As a Launch Engineer – Data Centers & Controls, you will be part of an energized team driven by our passion to build a better world by transforming power and people.

What you will be doing:

RoMan's Launch Engineer for data centers and controls will play a supportive and hands-on engineer to lead the successful introduction of new data-center power products, electrical power systems, manufacturing processes, and related equipment from engineering development through stable production.

Responsibilities:

· Lead manufacturing launches of new data-center power products, assemblies, systems, and customer programs from prototype development through stable production.

· Develop and maintain launch plans, schedules, resource requirements, technical dependencies, production-readiness criteria, and customer-specific launch requirements.

· Coordinate prototype, pilot, pre-production, first-production, and production-ramp activities while serving as the primary technical liaison between Engineering and Operations.

· Maintain launch issue logs, manage technical and operational risks, and drive timely resolution of issues affecting Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Productivity.

· Communicate launch performance, project risks, technical concerns, schedule issues, and required decisions to leadership and relevant stakeholders.

· Support the industrialization of electrical power equipment and assemblies used in data-center applications, including transformers, power systems, electrical cabinets, panels, bus systems, and associated controls.

· Participate in early product-design reviews and evaluate designs for manufacturability, assembly efficiency, material handling, accessibility, serviceability, testability, reliability, mistake-proofing, and scalability.

· Recommend product and process modifications that improve manufacturing efficiency, product quality, throughput, and production reliability.

· Develop and improve standardized manufacturing processes, production routings, bills of material, work instructions, and standard work to support repeatable manufacturing operations.

· Support production expansion, line balancing, capacity planning, and manufacturing scale-up as data-center product volumes increase.

· Coordinate with internal and customer Engineering teams to resolve production-related design concerns and evaluate the manufacturing impact of Engineering Change Orders and Notices before implementation.

· Provide technical support for industrial control systems used in manufacturing operations and product testing, including interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, ladder logic, and equipment documentation.

· Support PLC and HMI troubleshooting, modifications, startup, Factory Acceptance Testing, and system debugging.

· Identify and support automation opportunities that improve manufacturing safety, quality, cycle time, capacity, process repeatability, and labor efficiency.

· Lead manufacturing-readiness reviews to verify that product designs, processes, tooling, equipment, fixtures, gauges, test systems, software, materials, and production documentation are ready for release.

· Partner with Engineering and Quality to establish manufacturing acceptance criteria, develop robust production test strategies, and coordinate electrical, functional, thermal, mechanical, and production validation activities.

· Maintain an active shop-floor presence during prototype builds, startup, initial production, and ramp-up to validate processes, support production employees, and resolve technical issues in accordance with established engineering, quality, and safety controls.

· Lead or support investigations of manufacturing defects, electrical test failures, recurring production issues, and field concerns using structured root-cause analysis methodologies such as 5 Why and 8D.

· Develop, implement, and validate corrective actions to eliminate recurring manufacturing or product problems.

· Monitor launch-related Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Productivity metrics and implement manufacturing improvements based on production feedback and performance data.

· Partner with Quality to control critical electrical product characteristics and support consistent product performance and compliance with established requirements.

· Participate in technical discussions with suppliers regarding product specifications, manufacturability, quality, delivery, and production requirements.

· Support the qualification of new components, materials, and suppliers as required for successful product launches.

· Perform special projects and other duties as assigned by management.

· Accomplish special projects and other assignments/duties as required by management.

The stuff you know:

· Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related technical discipline; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.

· Approximately 5 or more years of experience in manufacturing engineering, launch engineering, controls engineering, new product introduction, or a related technical manufacturing environment.

· Experience supporting product launches or significant manufacturing-process introductions.

· Experience working in an industrial production environment.

· Working knowledge of electrical control systems, PLCs, HMIs, industrial automation, and electrical schematics.

· Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex technical manufacturing problems and work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

· Strong professional ethical values and integrity.

· Detail-oriented with excellent documentation and communication skills.
