Launching Engineer

About the role

This role involves technical leadership of match-cast geometry control, post-tensioning coordination, heavy lifting operations and stakeholder management on a major viaduct or bridge construction project. You will analyse 3D geometry data to achieve millimetre-level accuracy in segment alignment, coordinate specialist subcontractors in PT and grouting works, supervise launching gantry operations for loads up to 125 tonnes, and manage technical submissions and statutory compliance with relevant authorities.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse and interpret 3D geometry control and survey data to achieve millimetre-level accuracy in segment alignment and erection
• Monitor structural pre-camber, cross-fall and vertical/horizontal alignment throughout the launching sequence
• Direct daily segment positioning and provide technical guidance to the survey and site teams
• Coordinate temporary structural support arrangements and ensure correct span-by-span or balanced cantilever alignment
• Monitor as-built geometry and identify deviations requiring corrective action
• Coordinate and monitor post-tensioning and grouting activities carried out by specialist subcontractors
• Prepare, review and coordinate heavy lifting plans and structural rigging arrangements for lifting operations involving loads of up to approximately 125 tonnes
• Coordinate the assembly, inspection, load testing and commissioning of the Launching Gantry
• Supervise Launching Gantry operations including segment feeding, erection, launching and span-to-span over-launching activities
• Coordinate technical submissions and approvals for launching and lifting activities, including Permit to Launch and Permit to Lift

About you

• Degree/Diploma in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related discipline
• Relevant experience in viaduct, precast segmental bridge construction, launching or heavy lifting works
• Hands-on experience with Launching Gantry, segment erection and bridge launching operations will be highly advantageous
• Experience in match-cast segment alignment, geometry control and surveying coordination is preferred
• Familiarity with post-tensioning, grouting and temporary works is an advantage
• Strong understanding of construction safety requirements, lifting operations and risk management
• Able to work closely with consultants, QPS/QPD, subcontractors and site teams
• Strong technical coordination, problem-solving and site management skills
