Laundry Assistant

About the role

Nexus Resort & Spa Karambunai is seeking a Laundry Assistant to join our dedicated housekeeping team. Based in Sepanggar, Sabah, this role is essential to maintaining the exceptional standards of cleanliness and presentation that our guests expect from a premium resort experience. As a Laundry Assistant, you will play a vital part in ensuring all linens, uniforms, and guest items are processed efficiently and to the highest quality standards, supporting the overall operations of our world-class hospitality facility.

Key responsibilities

• Operating and maintaining commercial laundry equipment, including washers, dryers, and pressing machines
• Sorting, washing, and drying linens, towels, and guest items in accordance with resort standards and fabric care instructions
• Inspecting laundered items for quality, stains, and damage prior to folding and distribution
• Folding, pressing, and packaging clean laundry for delivery to guest rooms, housekeeping departments, and back-of-house areas
• Maintaining accurate inventory records of linens and uniforms to ensure adequate stock levels
• Reporting equipment malfunctions or maintenance issues promptly to supervisors
• Adhering to health, safety, and hygiene protocols whilst handling chemicals and operating machinery
• Supporting fellow team members to maintain smooth laundry operations during peak periods
• Maintaining a clean and organised laundry facility at all times

What we're looking for

• Previous experience working in a laundry facility, hotel, or hospitality environment is advantageous
• Basic understanding of different fabric types and appropriate washing techniques
• Ability to operate commercial laundry equipment safely and effectively
• Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality standards
• Physical fitness and capability to lift and carry heavy loads of laundry regularly
• Reliability and punctuality with a strong work ethic
• Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team
• Good communication skills and willingness to follow instructions
• Understanding of health and safety procedures, particularly regarding chemical handling
• Fluency in English or Malay is preferred
