Laundry Assistant – Springlawn Nursing Home

Job Overview:

Springlawn Nursing Home is seeking a reliable, hardworking and motivated Laundry Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring residents' clothing, bedding and other laundry items are washed, dried, ironed and returned in a timely and organised manner, while maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and infection control.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collect, sort, wash, dry, fold and organise residents' clothing, bedding, towels and other laundry items
• Ensure residents' personal clothing is handled with care and returned to the correct resident
• Operate washing machines, tumble dryers and ironing equipment safely and efficiently
• Iron and neatly fold clothing and linen as required
• Follow correct procedures for handling soiled and contaminated laundry
• Maintain a clean, tidy and organised laundry room and work area
• Ensure laundry supplies and equipment are used appropriately
• Follow all infection control, health & safety and hygiene guidelines
• Work closely with care and housekeeping staff to ensure residents' laundry needs are met
• Assist with other general laundry and housekeeping duties as required

Requirements:

• Previous experience in a laundry, housekeeping or similar role desirable but not essential

• Basic understanding of hygiene and infection control practices

• Ability to work efficiently as part of a team and on own initiative

• Good organisational skills and attention to detail

• Ability to manage workload and prioritise daily tasks

• Reliable, hardworking and flexible with a positive attitude

• A caring and respectful approach when handling residents' personal belongings.
