Laundry Attendant (Weekend)

Position Summary- Hyatt Place Munster

The Laundry Attendant is responsible for ensuring all hotel linens, towels, and laundry items are properly sorted, cleaned, dried, treated, and prepared for use in a timely manner. This role plays a critical part in supporting housekeeping operations and maintaining Hyatt brand cleanliness standards. The laundry room must remain clean, organized, and efficient at all times.

Key Responsibilities

Laundry Operations

• Sort all linens, towels, and laundry by type, color, and level of soil
• Operate washers and dryers according to proper settings and safety procedures
• Ensure timely washing, drying, folding, and delivery of all laundry items
• Maintain consistent workflow to support housekeeping room readiness
• Monitor inventory levels of linens and report shortages

Stain Treatment & Quality Control

• Inspect all items for stains, damage, or wear
• Apply proper stain removal treatments before washing
• Rewash or retreat items that do not meet cleanliness standards
• Log and track stained or damaged items
• Discard linens according to hotel standards and replacement guidelines

Organization & Cleanliness

• Maintain a clean, neat, and organized laundry room at all times
• Keep machines, folding areas, and storage spaces sanitized and clutter-free
• Properly store clean linens and ensure they are ready for use
• Remove trash and maintain overall housekeeping of the workspace

Teamwork & Support

• Work closely with housekeeping to meet daily linen demands
• Communicate delays, issues, or inventory concerns to leadership
• Assist with linen distribution and restocking as needed
• Support hotel operations during high occupancy or peak periods

Safety & Compliance

• Follow all safety guidelines for chemical use and equipment operation
• Adhere to Hyatt brand standards and cleanliness expectations
• Report maintenance issues with machines or equipment immediately

Shift Scheduling & Work Hours

• Typical Shift: Day shift, generally starting between 7:00 AM – 9:00 AM and ending based on workload
• Workweek: Flexible schedule including weekends and holidays
• Demand-Based Hours: Hours vary based on occupancy and linen usage
• Overtime: May be required during peak occupancy or events

Qualifications

• Previous laundry or housekeeping experience preferred (not required)
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
• Strong attention to detail and organization skills
• Ability to lift, push, and pull 25–50 lbs
• Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays

Physical Requirements

• Frequent standing, bending, lifting, and repetitive motion
• Ability to work in a warm, humid environment
• Comfortable operating laundry equipment and using chemicals

Work Environment

• Back-of-house laundry facility
• Exposure to heat, moisture, and cleaning chemicals
• Physically active role requiring consistent movement
