Laundry Worker

SCHEDULE: Full-time; 40 hours per week; First shift; Includes holiday and weekend rotation

The Laundry Staff assumes the responsibility for ordering, receiving, storing and delivering of clean linen. He/she must inventory linen in all departments and deliver adequate supply of linen to each department. He/she may be required to assist with some housekeeping duties. He/she adheres to the mission of Myrtue Medical Center in all aspects of job performance.

Completion of high school or equivalent preferred. Must know how to operate a washer, dryer and sewing machine. Must know how to care for equipment, how to measure cleaning solutions and be alert to hazards.

Inventories all linen closets to determine linen needs and restock. Also, keeps adequate supply of linen in other departments where needed. Performs in-house washing and folding of lab sheets, lab coats, birthing bed linens, scrub mops, cleaning rags and any other miscellaneous items. Folds necessary linens to stock linen closets so they are neat and organized. Counts all linen prior to taking to any other area and documents the number of items. Keeps an adequate supply of dismissal unit packs on hand for all areas. Stocks shelves in clean linen room with linen from contract linen carts. Cleans the linen/laundry room, and the washer and dryer. Maintains a monthly record of the total number of linens by areas.
