Lawn & Garden Road Technician

Purpose:

Performs basic diagnostics, service repairs and maintenance work on customer and/or dealer-owned lawn and garden equipment/outdoor power equipment.

Responsibilities:

• Performs basic lawn and garden/outdoor power equipment diagnostics and determines what repairs are needed, if required.
• Performs basic lawn and garden/outdoor power equipment repairs as requested by the Service Manager/Shop Foreman.
• Participates in all job-related training and development.
• Responsible for completing proper documentation pertaining to the job. Example: quotes, parts pick lists, warranty write-ups, proper complaint, cause, repair information on each work order.
• Ability to use computer in diagnostics, documentation, and processing of individual jobs.
• Prepares all reports and forms required in conjunction with work assignments.
• Maintains current product knowledge of John Deere and competitive products.
• Maintains condition of vehicles, inventory, tools, and equipment.
• Minimum 6-9 months in the shop for onboarding / systems training / evaluation before moving into a road tech position.

Requirements:

• Preferably one year of experience performing service repairs.
• Ability to communicate with customers on a professional level.
• Ability to efficiently plan driving route daily to minimize drive time.
• Ability to perform advanced repairs and maintenance using special tools and equipment following Technical Manual procedures.
• Advanced knowledge of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems used in the repair of agricultural equipment.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Driver's license.
