What they need

About Hemlock Landscapes

For more than 40 years, Hemlock Landscapes has provided high-quality residential landscape maintenance services throughout the Chagrin Valley and surrounding communities. Since November 2024, Hemlock Landscapes has been part of Suncrest Landscape Group, a growing, full-service landscape company headquartered in Stow, Ohio. Hemlock continues to operate under its established name and reputation in the Chagrin Valley while benefiting from the resources, people, and opportunities of Suncrest.

We are looking for a Lawn Field Supervisor to join our team and help us deliver on that purpose.

About the Role

The Lawn Field Supervisor is responsible for leading the field operations of our lawn maintenance and turf care division. This position directly supports and supervises lawn crews, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the quality standards our customers expect.

The Lawn Field Supervisor will report to the Branch Manager of the Chagrin Falls/Hemlock branch and work closely with other members of the branch leadership team to achieve production, quality, safety, employee development, customer service, and financial goals.

This is a year-round, hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys working outdoors, developing people, solving problems, and taking ownership of the day-to-day performance of their crews and customers.

During the growing season, the primary focus will be leading lawn maintenance and turf care operations. During the winter season, the role transitions to snow operations, including managing an assigned snow route and leading seasonal snow personnel.

Primary Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Development

  • Provide direct supervision, coaching, accountability, and support to lawn and turf care crews.
  • Hold daily huddles with crews to communicate schedules, priorities, production goals, safety expectations, and important customer information.
  • Set clear expectations for productivity, quality, safety, and customer service.
  • Train and develop Crew Leaders and field employees on company standards, proper equipment operation, horticultural practices, and standard work.
  • Assist with recruiting, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and training new field employees.
  • Monitor employee performance and provide timely feedback, recognition, and corrective coaching when needed.
  • Build a positive, accountable team culture where employees understand expectations and have the tools and support necessary to succeed.
  • Participate in branch and company meetings, training programs, and leadership initiatives.

Lawn Production & Operations

  • Schedule and coordinate daily work for assigned lawn maintenance and turf care crews.
  • Ensure crews have the people, equipment, materials, and information needed to successfully complete their work.
  • Monitor daily production and billable-hour performance and make adjustments as needed.
  • Ensure crews follow established production standards and standard work procedures.
  • Conduct regular field visits to observe crews, inspect work, provide coaching, and address production challenges.
  • Review work sequences and job requirements with Crew Leaders to ensure work is completed efficiently and according to the scope of work.
  • Identify production issues and implement solutions before they impact customers or profitability.
  • Communicate scheduling, weather, staffing, equipment, and other operational issues to the Branch Manager.

Quality & Customer Experience

  • Ensure lawn and turf care services are completed to company quality standards.
  • Conduct quality inspections and address deficiencies promptly.
  • Partner with the Branch Manager and customer-facing team members to resolve service issues and customer concerns.
  • Ensure crews understand customer expectations and deliver a consistent, professional experience.
  • Identify opportunities to improve service quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

Financial & Performance Management

  • Follow established pre-job and post-job management processes.
  • Monitor production against budgeted hours and expected job performance.
  • Ensure crews achieve daily and weekly efficiency and billable-hour goals.
  • Understand how field productivity, labor efficiency, quality, and rework impact branch profitability.
  • Take ownership of the performance of assigned crews and work to continuously improve production results.
  • Partner with the Branch Manager to achieve branch safety, quality, labor, revenue, and gross-margin objectives.

Seasonal Snow Operations

During the winter season, the Lawn Field Supervisor will transition from lawn production to snow and winter operations, helping ensure Hemlock's snow services are delivered safely, efficiently, and reliably.

  • Manage an assigned snow route and oversee the day-to-day execution of snow operations.
  • Lead, schedule, and supervise seasonal snow personnel assigned to the route.
  • Coordinate crews, equipment, trucks, loaders, plow vehicles, and other resources to ensure routes are properly staffed and serviced.
  • Communicate snow event expectations, assignments, routes, and safety requirements to snow personnel before and during events.
  • Monitor snow events and make real-time adjustments to staffing, equipment, and routes as conditions change.
  • Ensure assigned routes are completed according to customer expectations, service standards, and established response times.
  • Conduct quality checks during and after snow events and address missed areas or service issues promptly.
  • Track employee hours, equipment usage, production, and other information related to snow operations.
  • Train and coach seasonal snow employees on proper procedures, equipment operation, safety, and customer expectations.
  • Ensure all snow personnel follow company safety policies and operate vehicles and equipment responsibly.
  • Communicate staffing, equipment, weather, customer, and operational issues to the Branch Manager.
  • Assist with snow-event preparation, including staffing plans, equipment readiness, route planning, and pre-storm communication.
  • Participate in post-storm reviews to identify opportunities to improve route efficiency, staffing, safety, and customer service.

Safety

  • Lead by example and promote a strong safety culture across lawn and snow operations.
  • Ensure crews follow all company safety policies, procedures, and standard work.
  • Conduct and reinforce daily safety expectations with field employees.
  • Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment, vehicles, equipment, and tools.
  • Report and address safety concerns, incidents, and near misses promptly.
  • Help the branch achieve its goals for safe operations, including preventing lost-time incidents and vehicle accidents.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in the landscape, lawn care, turf care, snow, or related industry.

  • Experience managing lawn maintenance, turf care, or snow crews.
  • Experience managing routes or coordinating field operations.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
