Lawn Service Technician

Compensation: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour (commensurate with experience)

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated, hardworking, and detail-oriented Lawn Service Technician to join our campus operations team. In this role, you will play a vital part in maintaining a safe, beautiful, and welcoming outdoor environment for our students, staff, families, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities: Primary Lawn Maintenance (approx. 70-80%)

• Turf Management: Safely and efficiently operate commercial zero-turn mowers, walk-behind mowers, trimmers, edgers, and blowers to maintain campus lawns, athletic fields, and common areas.
• Property Detailing: Perform regular weed-eating, sidewalk edging, blowing of hardscapes, and weeding of flower beds and landscape islands.
• Plant & Bed Care: Assist with planting, pruning, mulching, watering, and fertilizing trees, shrubs, and seasonal flowers.
• Seasonal Groundskeeping: Assist with leaf removal in the autumn, campus clean-ups in the spring, and basic snow/ice management protocols during winter weather events (as applicable).

Minor General Maintenance & Facilities Support (approx. 20-30%)

• Outdoor Infrastructure: Maintain fences, gates, outdoor seating, trash receptacles, exterior signage, and parking lot cleanliness.
• Facility Assistance: Provide hands-on assistance to the broader facilities team with minor building repairs, event setups (setting up chairs, tents, or tables for outdoor chapels, athletics, and school functions), and light hauling or moving tasks.
• Equipment Care: Perform daily pre-use and post-use inspections, routine cleaning, and basic maintenance (blades, oil checks, tire pressure) on all assigned lawn care equipment.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Experience: Minimum 1 year of professional landscaping, groundskeeping, or lawn care experience preferred (familiarity with commercial mowers and power tools is a strong plus).
• Work Ethic: Reliable, punctual, and capable of working independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
• Physical Stamina: Ability to perform heavy physical labor outdoors in various weather conditions (heat, cold, rain), including frequent bending, lifting up to 50 lbs, and standing/walking for extended periods.
• Safety Mindset: Strict adherence to safety protocols when handling fuel, sharp tools, heavy machinery, and commercial fertilizers/herbicides.
• Character & Cultural Fit: Support the Christian mission, values, and behavioral standards of the school community. Must be able to pass a standard background check.

Work Schedule & Benefits

• Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday (standard daytime hours; occasional weekend support may be required for special school events).
• Pay Rate: $15.00 to $17.00 per hour, paid bi-weekly.
