Lead API Architect

Context

This role involves leading the design, development, and oversight of an organization’s API strategy and architecture. The focus is on creating scalable, secure, and efficient API solutions that enable integration between various systems, applications, and services within the organization, enhancing data accessibility and user experience.

Missions

• Lead the design and development of APIs that meet stakeholder needs, ensuring adherence to industry best practices and standards.
• Build robust and scalable API services from conception to deployment, including microservices architecture where applicable.
• Develop a comprehensive API architecture strategy aligned with business objectives and the organization’s technology roadmap.
• Design data domains and data models to structure data access and organization through APIs, ensuring efficiency and logical consistency.
• Implement robust security practices to protect APIs, including user authentication, data encryption, and access control protocols.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement integration strategies for APIs, ensuring seamless connectivity between services, applications, and third-party providers.
• Continuously monitor API performance metrics and implement optimization strategies to ensure high availability, response times, and resource efficiency.
• Create and maintain comprehensive API documentation to enable developers and third parties to understand and utilize the APIs effectively.
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in API development to drive innovation and continuous improvement.
• Lead and mentor a team of API developers and engineers, fostering a collaborative environment focused on best practices, innovation, and skill development.
