Lead Application Developer

I have a fulltime job opportunity located in NYC.

The role requires onsite 5 days pr week and their interview process is onsite only.

This role reports directly to the Director of Technology to support the development, enhancement, and maintenance of the firm's internal technology platforms. The Lead Developer will contribute to software development projects, assist with system integrations, and help build scalable applications that support business operations. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced developer looking to bring ownership of the development platform and grow within a collaborative and fast-paced financial services environment.

Responsibilities

Platform Development and Implementation

1. Architect and develop the firm's internal technology platform under the guidance of the Director of Data & Technology.
2. Build software and Web portal components from detailed technical specifications and business requirements.
3. Support the development of integrations between internal systems and third-party applications.
4. Participate in testing, debugging, and refining applications based on user feedback.
5. Learn and apply development best practices throughout the software development lifecycle.

System Enhancement and Technical Operations

1. Support enhancements to existing applications, APIs, and services.
2. Assist with database development, cloud deployments, and containerized applications.
3. Help implement secure coding practices and maintain application security standards.
4. Assist in monitoring application performance and identifying opportunities for improvement.
5. Explore emerging technologies, including AI tools, that can improve the development of workflows.

Maintenance, Support, and Quality Assurance

1. Troubleshoot software issues and assist in resolving bugs.
2. Perform unit testing and support quality assurance efforts.
3. Maintain technical documentation for applications and deployment processes.
4. Assist with software releases and ongoing maintenance activities.
5. Coordinate with vendors and technology partners as needed.

Collaboration and Continuous Improvement

1. Work closely with the Director of Data & Technology and other team members on development initiatives.
2. Collaborate with business users to understand requirements and deliver effective technology solutions.
3. Communicate progress, challenges, and project updates.
4. Contribute ideas for improving applications, workflows, and development processes.
5. Stay current on modern development tools, technologies, and industry best practices.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or related field.
2. 7-13 years of professional software development experience
3. Experience with modern web development frameworks, building website and APIs with Python, FastAPI, Django, React Js, TypeScript, Redis
4. Help in DevOps tasks – Sprint task management, CI/CD, Docker containerization
5. Basic understanding of SQL and relational databases (PostgreSQL, SQL Server)
6. Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure)
7. Experience with AI tools and modern software development practices.
8. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
9. Excellent attention to detail and willingness to learn.
10. Strong communication and collaboration skills
11. Intellectual curiosity and a desire to continuously develop technical skills.
12. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
13. Experience in financial services (Fixed income, ABS/ABF) is a plus
