Hong Kong Interbank Clearing Limited (hereinafter referred to as “the Company”) is a private organization jointly owned by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) and The Hong Kong Association of Banks. The Company’s key objective is to develop and operate a safe and efficient multi-currency and multi-dimensional financial infrastructure in Hong Kong for:

• large-value interbank fund transfers denominated in HKD, USD, Euro and RMB;
• interbank money settlement of equity and debt securities transactions in Hong Kong via the linkages with the Hong Kong Securities Clearing Company Limited and the HKMA’s Central Moneymarkets Unit (CMU) system;
• small-value interbank fund transfers denominated in HKD and RMB via the HKD and RMB Faster Payment System; and
• interbank clearing and/or money settlement of paper cheques and various types of electronic payments in Hong Kong.

The Company is also the operator of the HKMA’s CMU system.

Apart from interbank clearing-and-settlement services, the Company and its subsidiaries also support the HKMA and the financial industry to foster the development of the financial technology (“FinTech”) ecosystem in Hong Kong.

We are looking for a suitable candidate to take up the following job position.

Lead Architect (Application Development)

Major Responsibilities

• Manage a team of application system development professionals to perform feasibility study, system design, development and implementation of the Company's application systems as well as to provide production support
• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Business partners, UAT team, DevOps team and vendors if any, to ensure the overall deliverables can meet business objectives.
• Ensure project deadlines are met with high quality software
• Evaluate systems effectiveness, undertake management of problem analysis and diagnosis, maintenance and enhancement of the application systems
• Define and implement design & coding standards and code reviews. Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies
• Provide supervision and guidance of staff, promote professional growth and technical excellence
• Perform other duties or projects as assigned

Requirements:

• University degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related disciplines
• At least 15 years of relevant software development experience, with a strong focus on cloud-native technologies and proven expertise in Docker, Kubernetes, and container orchestration. Knowledge in financial sector or payment systems are preferred
• Proficiency in programming languages and frameworks such as Java, Spring Boot, Python, JavaScript (Node.js), for backend development and RESTful APIs
• Familiarity with frontend technologies including JavaScript (React, Angular, Vue.js), HTML, CSS, and TypeScript
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation) and DevOps tools
• Knowledge of database management systems, including SQL and NoSQL databases
• Experience leveraging AI assisted development tools (i.e. Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude) to enhance development efficiency, code quality and productivity is an advantage
• Strong leadership and communication skills; ability to manage remote teams and work under pressure
• Fast learner, willing to take initiatives to learn legacy and new businesses
• Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese, proficiency in Putonghua is an advantage
