Our Client is a technology company building scalable digital platforms and operational systems for global clients. They operate with a strong focus on product excellence, engineering quality, speed of execution, and operational clarity.

As they continue to scale, Our Client is looking for a Backend Lead to own the architecture, performance, and reliability of their backend systems. This role exists to ensure the technical foundation can support rapid growth while maintaining code quality, system stability, and engineering best practices.

The Backend Lead will work closely with the engineering and product teams to translate business requirements into robust, scalable technical solutions, while mentoring and guiding a team of backend engineers.

Remuneration: USD (commensurate with experience)

Responsibilities

• Own the architecture, design, and scalability of backend systems and services
• Lead and mentor a team of backend engineers, setting technical standards and best practices
• Drive key technical decisions around infrastructure, databases, APIs, and system design
• Ensure system performance, security, and reliability across all backend services
• Collaborate closely with Product, Frontend, and DevOps teams to deliver end-to-end solutions
• Review code and enforce engineering standards through code reviews and technical documentation
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, technical debt, and scalability risks
• Own the technical roadmap for backend infrastructure in line with business growth

Requirements

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience, with at least 2 years in a lead or senior technical role
• Strong proficiency in backend languages/frameworks (e.g. Node.js, Python, Java, Go)
• Proven experience designing and scaling distributed systems and APIs
• Solid understanding of databases (SQL/NoSQL), caching, and system architecture principles
• Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and CI/CD pipelines
• Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to guide technical decision-making
• Clear communicator who can work cross-functionally with Product and other engineering teams
