Lead Barista

Job Summary

SORO Coffee is seeking a friendly, experienced, and dependable Lead Barista to join the café team. The Lead Barista will prepare high-quality coffee and specialty beverages, provide knowledgeable guest service, support daily café operations, and help maintain consistent beverage and service standards.

The ideal candidate has strong barista experience, enjoys working with coffee, communicates well with guests and coworkers, and can help lead the team during busy service periods.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare espresso, brewed coffee, tea, and specialty beverages according to café standards.
• Operate espresso machines, grinders, brewers, and other coffee equipment safely and effectively.
• Dial in espresso and adjust grind settings to maintain consistent beverage quality.
• Welcome guests and provide friendly, professional, and knowledgeable service.
• Take food and beverage orders accurately and operate the POS system.
• Process cash, card, and other payment transactions accurately.
• Answer guest questions about coffee, beverages, menu items, and preparation methods.
• Provide recommendations based on guest preferences.
• Help coordinate bar operations and workflow during busy service periods.
• Support and guide baristas and other café team members as needed.
• Assist with training new team members on beverage preparation, recipes, equipment, and service procedures.
• Maintain consistent standards for beverage quality, presentation, and portioning.
• Keep the coffee bar, counters, tables, equipment, and service areas clean and organized.
• Clean and maintain espresso machines, grinders, brewers, and other café equipment.
• Monitor inventory and restock coffee beans, milk, syrups, cups, food items, and other supplies.
• Follow food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures.
• Assist with opening, closing, cleaning, and other daily café duties.
• Report equipment issues, inventory needs, or operational concerns to management.
• Perform other duties assigned by café management.

Requirements

• Previous barista experience is required; lead or senior barista experience is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of espresso preparation and coffee brewing.
• Experience using commercial espresso machines and grinders.
• Ability to maintain beverage quality and accuracy during busy periods.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and leadership skills.
• Friendly, professional, and guest-focused attitude.
• Ability to train and support other team members.
• Good attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
• Ability to follow recipes, procedures, and café standards.
• Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform routine café duties.

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
