Lead Barista

Job Summary

Bohemian House of Espresso + Chai is seeking an experienced, friendly, and dependable Lead Barista to support daily café operations and help maintain high standards of coffee, chai, beverage preparation, and guest service. The successful candidate will lead bar operations during assigned shifts, support and train team members, maintain product quality, and help create a welcoming café environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead coffee bar operations during assigned shifts
• Prepare espresso, brewed coffee, chai, tea, specialty beverages, and other café menu items
• Follow established recipes and beverage preparation standards
• Maintain consistent beverage quality, presentation, and portion standards
• Operate espresso machines, grinders, brewers, and other café equipment safely
• Dial in espresso and adjust grind settings as needed
• Prepare chai and specialty beverages according to café standards
• Support, train, and guide baristas and café team members
• Help team members follow beverage recipes, service procedures, and quality standards
• Monitor bar workflow and coordinate team members during busy periods
• Welcome guests and provide friendly, professional service
• Take orders accurately and operate the POS system
• Process cash, card, and other payments accurately
• Answer guest questions about coffee, chai, beverages, and menu items
• Handle guest requests and concerns in a polite and professional manner
• Monitor coffee, chai, milk, syrups, cups, food items, and other café supplies
• Restock products and communicate inventory needs to management
• Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked coffee bar
• Clean and sanitize espresso machines, grinders, utensils, counters, and workstations
• Follow food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures
• Assist with opening, closing, and daily café cleaning duties
• Report equipment, inventory, or service concerns to café management
• Perform additional duties assigned by management

Requirements

• Previous barista or café experience required; lead or senior barista experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of espresso, coffee, chai, and specialty beverage preparation
• Experience operating commercial espresso machines and grinders
• Understanding of espresso extraction, grind adjustment, and beverage quality
• Previous experience training or supporting café team members is a plus
• Strong leadership, communication, and guest-service skills
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced café environment
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to beverage quality
• POS and cash-handling experience
• Reliable attendance and punctuality
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform routine café duties
• Flexible availability, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 36.0 per week
