Lead Barista

Job Summary

Tierra Mia Coffee is seeking an experienced, friendly, and dependable Lead Barista to help lead daily café operations and maintain high standards of coffee, beverage quality, and guest service. The successful candidate will prepare specialty beverages, support and train baristas, coordinate bar operations, monitor supplies, and help create a welcoming and efficient café environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead coffee bar operations during assigned shifts
• Prepare espresso, brewed coffee, tea, specialty beverages, and other café menu items according to established standards
• Maintain consistent beverage quality, presentation, and portion standards
• Operate and maintain espresso machines, grinders, brewers, and other café equipment
• Dial in espresso and adjust grind settings as needed to maintain beverage quality
• Support, train, and guide baristas and café team members
• Teach beverage recipes, preparation procedures, equipment use, and service standards
• Monitor bar workflow and coordinate team members during busy service periods
• Welcome guests and provide friendly, professional service
• Take orders accurately and operate the POS system
• Process cash, card, and other payments accurately
• Answer guest questions about coffee, beverages, and menu items
• Handle guest requests and concerns in a polite and professional manner
• Monitor coffee beans, milk, syrups, cups, food items, and other café supplies
• Restock products and communicate inventory needs to management
• Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked coffee bar
• Clean and sanitize espresso machines, grinders, utensils, counters, and workstations
• Follow food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures
• Assist with opening, closing, and daily café cleaning duties
• Report equipment, inventory, staffing, or service concerns to management
• Support management with daily café operations and team coordination
• Perform additional duties assigned by café management

Requirements

• Previous barista experience required; lead or senior barista experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of espresso preparation and specialty coffee beverages
• Experience operating commercial espresso machines and grinders
• Understanding of espresso extraction, grind adjustment, and beverage quality
• Previous experience training, coaching, or supporting café team members is a plus
• Strong leadership, communication, and guest-service skills
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced café environment
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to beverage quality
• POS and cash-handling experience
• Reliable attendance and punctuality
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform routine café duties
• Flexible availability, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 36.0 per week
