Volstead’s Emporium- Lead Bartender

Location: Minneapolis, MNSchedule: 30-40 hours per week (evenings and weekends)

Pay: $18.50 per hour + tips

Volstead’s Emporium is hiring an experienced Lead Bartender for a hands-on leadership position with a meaningful role in shaping the bar’s direction. Alongside leading service and managing bar staff, this person will collaborate regularly with the owner to strengthen the bar program, plan events, and develop a creative cocktail menu. We’re looking for someone who can set clear standards, build a positive team culture, and deliver an exceptional guest experience.

Responsibilities

• Bartend during scheduled shifts, making drinks with care, speed, and consistency.
• Lead the bar team during service, assign tasks, set priorities, and keep communication clear across the bar, kitchen, and floor.
• Train and coach bartenders and barbacks on recipes, service standards, opening and closing procedures, and responsible alcohol service.
• Give timely, respectful feedback and address performance or conduct concerns in partnership with management.
• Help build a workplace where staff feel supported, accountable, and respected.
• Handle guest concerns professionally and set the example for warm, attentive service.
• Maintain a clean, stocked, organized bar; monitor inventory and flag ordering needs.
• Follow and reinforce POS, cash handling, safety, and closing procedures.

Qualifications

• Substantial bartending experience, including cocktail preparation and busy service.
• Prior experience leading shifts, training staff, or supervising a bar team.
• Confidence in making decisions, setting expectations, and having direct conversations when needed.
• Strong organization, sound judgment under pressure, and consistent follow-through.
• A commitment to treating coworkers and guests with respect across different backgrounds and identities.
• Availability to work a 40-hour schedule that includes evenings and weekends.
