LEAD CABINET MAKER & CARPENTER

Job Overview

Superior Woodworks is seeking an experienced, hands-on Lead Cabinetmaker / Cabinet Shop Lead to help operate and grow our cabinet shop.

This is not a desk-management position. The person hired will initially be our primary cabinetmaker and will be responsible for designing, planning, scheduling, and building custom cabinet projects. As we add a shop helper, this person will also provide hands-on training, direction, and quality control.

Responsibilities

• Design and build custom residential and commercial cabinetry
• Build and install plastic laminate (PLAM) cabinets and laminate countertops
• Install cabinets, doors, fixtures, crown molding, baseboards, and other wood finishes
• Create cabinet layouts, shop drawings, cut lists, and material takeoffs
• Review field measurements, plans, specifications, and customer selections
• Plan and schedule cabinet production based on project deadlines
• Cut, assemble, and prepare cabinets, doors, drawers, panels, and related millwork
• Order or coordinate the materials and hardware needed for each project
• Operate and maintain woodworking tools and shop equipment
• Train and direct a cabinet-shop helper
• Inspect completed work for accuracy, fit, finish, and overall quality
• Keep the cabinet shop clean, organized, and safe
• Communicate project progress, material needs, and potential delays
• Help establish efficient shop procedures as the company grows
• Assist with cabinet delivery and installation when needed
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment and properly store tools and materials after each task

Qualifications

• Proven hands-on experience building custom cabinets
• Ability to complete cabinet projects from design through fabrication
• Experience creating cabinet layouts and material takeoffs
• Ability to read plans, shop drawings, and field measurements
• Knowledge of cabinet construction, hardware, materials, and joinery
• Ability to organize work and maintain a production schedule
• Ability and willingness to train a less-experienced helper
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship
• Dependable, self-motivated, and capable of working independently
• Cabinet-design software experience preferred
• CNC experience is helpful but not required
• Valid driver’s license preferred
• Pass a background check
• Pass a drug test
• Valid Driver License

The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently, solving problems, maintaining project schedules, producing quality work, and training others.

This position has the opportunity to develop into a Cabinet Shop Manager role as the company, workload, and shop team grow.
