Lead Character Tools Engineer

For our client, we are seeking a Lead Character Tools Engineer to join the team of a leader in the Hospitality & Recreation space.

This role will shape the tools and workflows that support character creation and game development pipelines across the studio. You will partner closely with artists, engineers, and other internal stakeholders to improve productivity, strengthen automation, and support high-quality content delivery. The position also calls for hands-on technical problem-solving, documentation, and occasional participation in internal presentations and demos.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $143,700 – $215,500 annually

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to create and refine tools for game development
• Set up and maintain project-specific environments and automation
• Support diverse client working environments and tools
• Write, maintain, and customize internal tools and workflows
• Build and maintain technical documentation
• Participate in internal demos and conferences as needed
• Contribute to both collaborative team efforts and self-directed research

Qualifications

• 5-7 years of experience in traditional game development and run-time workflows
• Demonstrated understanding of game development pipelines
• Extensive experience with Autodesk Maya software
• Strong programming skills in C++, specifically writing and debugging
• Knowledge of agentic AI workflows for code creation
• Excellent troubleshooting and creative problem-solving abilities
• BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Graphic Art, or equivalent experience
