What they need

Job Title: Lead Cloud Solutions Engineer

Requisition ID: R10233596

Location: Cheltenham

Clearance Type: Must hold highest UK Government clearance

Salary: £68,000 – £102,000

What’s your possible?

At Northrop Grumman UK, you are part of a team driving innovation where it matters most – solving tomorrow’s challenges and shaping the technology solutions of the future. It’s what we call Defining Possible.

This mindset goes beyond our customer solutions; it is the foundation for your career development and the impact we have within the community.

Your Opportunity

This is more than just a job; it is a mission.

As a Cloud Engineer within our Infrastructure Team, you will play a critical role in supporting customers as they refactor, replatform and rehost mission-critical systems into AWS and hybrid cloud environments. Your work will directly contribute to improving system reliability, reducing operational costs, and enabling greater organisational agility across national security programmes.

You will collaborate with highly skilled engineers and architects to design and deliver innovative solutions to complex challenges, working across both cloud and on-premise environments using modern Infrastructure as Code and DevSecOps practices.

“Life as a Cloud Engineer is an exceptionally rewarding role where no two days are truly the same. You can be troubleshooting some Python code in a Lambda function, designing complex solutions, presenting to the customer and building that same solution using Infrastructure as Code and DevOps tooling. This variety helps the role feel fresh, and I always finish each day feeling like I’ve learnt something new.”

Kris, Principal Cloud Solutions Architect, Northrop Grumman UK

Your Responsibilities

  • Design, build and implement AWS and hybrid cloud solutions aligned to customer requirements
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define scalable, secure infrastructure architectures
  • Administer and optimise Linux and Windows-based systems in enterprise environments
  • Design and troubleshoot IP networking solutions including AWS networking and hybrid connectivity
  • Automate deployment, configuration and maintenance processes using Infrastructure as Code and configuration management tooling
  • Contribute to continuous improvement through DevSecOps practices and innovation

Your Experience

  • Proven experience in IT systems design, deployment and administration, including leadership responsibilities
  • AWS certification at Associate level with hands-on experience delivering cloud-based solutions
  • Strong expertise in Linux and Windows system administration within large-scale environments
  • Solid understanding of IPv4 networking including subnetting, routing (OSPF), VLANs and VPNs
  • Experience automating tasks using tools such as Ansible, Bash, PowerShell, Puppet or Python

We encourage you to apply even if you do not meet every requirement. If you are passionate about cloud engineering and eager to learn, we would love to hear from you.

Security Clearance

Due to the nature of our work, you must be a British citizen to be eligible for this role.

You must be able to gain and maintain the highest level of UK Government security clearance (Developed Vetting).
