Lead Crematory Operator

Calvert Memorial Homes is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Crematory Operator. This position plays an important role in ensuring that every individual entrusted to our care is treated with the utmost dignity, respect, and professionalism.

The ideal candidate will be responsible, organized, and comfortable working independently in a professional environment. Previous crematory or funeral service experience is preferred but not required. We are willing to train the right individual.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain cremation equipment in accordance with company procedures and applicable regulations.
• Perform cremations safely, efficiently, and respectfully.
• Maintain accurate identification, documentation, and records throughout the cremation process.
• Handle human and pet remains with dignity and care.
• Process cremated remains.
• Perform routine cleaning, maintenance, and inspections of crematory equipment.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
• Assist with the transportation and transfer of deceased individuals as needed.
• Monitor equipment performance and communicate maintenance concerns.
• Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and applicable state and federal regulations.
• Assist with additional operational duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
• Absolute attention to detail and ability to follow established procedures.
• Dependable, punctual, and capable of working independently.
• Ability to maintain professionalism and discretion when handling sensitive situations.
• Comfortable working in an industrial environment involving high-temperature equipment.
• Basic mechanical aptitude is beneficial.
• Previous crematory, funeral service, or equipment operation experience is a plus but not required.
• Ability to obtain required crematory operator certification within the applicable timeframe.

Pay: From $60,000.00 per year
