Lead Data Architect - Buy-Side

I'm working with an investment management firm who are looking for a Data Architect to join them at the start of a significant data and platform transformation.

The role covers two areas: how data flows around the organisation, and how data is modelled and structured.

There is some high-level architecture in place, and the focus now is on going deeper across the board, from how technologies are used to the patterns, principles and standards engineering teams work to.

Alongside this, you will contribute to the platform strategy as the firm reviews its foundational operating systems front to back. It isn't a leadership role, but it does need someone strategic, with the presence to embed architectural thinking and bring engineers on board.

Key Responsibilities

• Defining how data flows around the organisation and how it is modelled and structured
• Putting the right patterns, principles and standards in place for business-aligned engineering teams
• Working with data governance to shape what data quality looks like
• Making better use of Snowflake and the wider tooling
• Engaging engineering teams and encouraging adoption of best practice
• Contributing to the wider platform strategy across front-to-back systems

Experience Required

• Asset management experience, including working with security master and asset management data sets
• Experience designing change within this space
• Strong data architecture experience across both data flows and data modelling
• Experience with a modern cloud data stack; Snowflake is a nice to have, and dbt is used heavily
• Strategic thinking, with the presence to influence engineers and the wider business
