Lead Data Center Technician

About the role

Lead the delivery of reliable, resilient, and scalable data center operations. You will serve as the senior operational escalation point for complex hardware and infrastructure issues, guiding high-impact changes, incident response, and continuous improvements across the site and wider organization.

Key responsibilities

• Lead complex data center hardware support activities to maintain high availability, reliability, and operational resilience.
• Review, govern, and approve advanced change activities, site expansions, and infrastructure upgrades.
• Establish and standardize operating procedures, including SOPs and MOPs, across teams and regions.
• Act as the highest on-site escalation point for critical incidents, coordinating cross-functional troubleshooting and recovery efforts.
• Lead root-cause analysis and ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented and tracked to completion.
• Partner with engineering, network, capacity planning, and security teams to identify operational risks and improve infrastructure design.
• Drive automation and process improvements that reduce manual work, improve consistency, and strengthen service delivery.
• Mentor and develop data center technicians, sharing technical expertise and reinforcing safe, high-quality operational practices.
• Influence policies, processes, and standards that improve team performance and support scalable operations.

About you

• Strong hands-on experience supporting data center infrastructure, including server hardware, cabling, power, cooling, and network-connected equipment.
• Experience leading complex change activities and operating in high-availability, mission-critical environments.
• Proven incident-management and problem-solving skills, including root-cause analysis and corrective action planning.
• Ability to work effectively with technical teams across engineering, networking, security, and capacity planning.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document procedures and guide others during high-pressure situations.
• A continuous-improvement mindset, with experience identifying opportunities to standardize, automate, and simplify operations.
• Demonstrated people leadership through mentoring, coaching, and setting high operational standards.
• Proven hands-on experience supporting data center hardware in a live, mission-critical environment.
• Experience racking, stacking, installing, upgrading, replacing, and decommissioning servers, storage, network equipment, PDUs, and related infrastructure.
• Strong experience with structured cabling, including copper and fiber installation, labeling, testing, troubleshooting, and cable management.
