Lead Data Governance Engineer

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Lead Data Governance Engineer with 7-12 years of experience in Data Governance, Data Quality, and Metadata Management. The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on expertise in Collibra and be responsible for implementing enterprise-wide data governance frameworks, data quality initiatives, metadata management, business glossary, data cataloging, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain enterprise Data Governance solutions using Collibra.
• Configure and manage Collibra Data Catalog, Business Glossary, Data Dictionary, Data Lineage, Policy Manager, and Workflow.
• Define and implement Data Governance policies, standards, processes, and operating models.
• Lead Data Quality initiatives by defining quality rules, KPIs, scorecards, profiling, monitoring, and issue of remediation.
• Collaborate with Data Owners, Data Stewards, Business Analysts, and Engineering teams to ensure governance adoption.
• Build and maintain Business Glossaries, Data Catalogs, Metadata Repositories, and Reference Data.
• Develop and maintain Data Lineage and Metadata Management processes.
• Implement data stewardship workflows and governance approval processes.
• Support regulatory and compliance initiatives including BCBS239, GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, or other industry-specific regulations where applicable.
• Drive governance maturity assessments and recommend continuous improvements.
• Mentor junior team members and provide technical leadership on governance best practices.
• Work closely with Data Engineering teams to integrate governance controls into modern data platforms.

Required Skills

• 7-12 years of experience in Data Governance, Metadata Management, or Data Management.
• Strong hands-on experience with Collibra.
• Experience implementing Business Glossary, Data Catalog, Data Lineage, Metadata Management, and Workflow automation.
• Strong knowledge of Data Quality frameworks and governance best practices.
• Experience with Data Profiling, Data Quality Rules, Monitoring, and Issue Management.
• Good understanding of Master Data Management (MDM) and Reference Data Management.
• Strong SQL skills for data analysis and validation.
• Experience working with enterprise data warehouses and modern cloud data platforms.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
