Lead Database Engineer

We’re partnering with a major global financial institution to recruit a Lead T-SQL Developer / Database Engineer for its Counterparty Credit Risk technology team.

This is a senior, predominantly hands-on role focused on developing and optimising high-performance database solutions within a complex, data-intensive environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design and maintain complex T-SQL solutions.
• Optimise SQL queries and database performance across large datasets.
• Improve data storage, structure, organisation and retrieval.
• Investigate database, application and performance issues.
• Apply unit testing, maintainability and code-quality standards.
• Provide technical direction and mentor other engineers.
• Support the platform’s transition towards containerised infrastructure.
• Collaborate with technology and business teams across Prague and the UK.

Required experience

• Advanced T-SQL and Microsoft SQL Server expertise.
• Strong query optimisation and performance-tuning skills.
• Deep understanding of database architecture and data modelling.
• Strong software-engineering fundamentals.
• Experience providing technical leadership while remaining hands-on.

Contract details

• Initial six-month contract with a strong likelihood of extension.
• Daily rate of approximately CZK 7,000–8,000 .
• Flexible hybrid model with up to three days per week in the Prague office.
