Lead Data/Platform Engineer

Piper Companies is seeking a Lead Data/Platform Engineer to join a healthcare technology organization. The Lead Data/Platform Engineer will play a key role in rebuilding the company's data pipeline from the ground up, helping modernize the platform and establish a scalable foundation for future growth.

Responsibilities of the Lead Data/Platform Engineer:

• Rebuild and modernize a legacy data pipeline, creating scalable and reliable ingestion, processing, and storage solutions.
• Design and develop integrations for APIs, vendor file feeds, BigQuery, and other external data sources.
• Build event-driven services and ETL processes using Python, Node.js, or similar technologies.
• Develop and manage AWS infrastructure utilizing Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, and containerization best practices.
• Establish observability, monitoring, lineage tracking, and operational standards for production data systems.
• Lead data migration, reconciliation, backfill, and cutover efforts while ensuring data accuracy and integrity.

Qualifications of the Lead Data/Platform Engineer:

• 10+ years of experience building and supporting large-scale data platforms, backend systems, or data engineering environments.
• Proven experience re-architecting, modernizing, or rebuilding data pipelines, data platforms, or infrastructure from the ground up.
• Strong experience with Python, Node.js, Go, TypeScript, or similar backend development technologies.
• Deep knowledge of ETL processes, data pipelines, event-driven architectures, and system integrations.
• Hands-on experience with AWS, Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, and containerization technologies.
• Advanced SQL and data warehousing expertise with Redshift, Snowflake, or similar platforms.

Compensation for the Lead Data/Platform Engineer includes:

• Salary range: $180,000 - $220,000 (Depending on Experience)
• Opportunity to convert to a full-time employee following the initial contract engagement
