What they need

At Legacy Decks, we don’t just build outdoor spaces—we build a legacy. We create stunning, high-end decks and outdoor living spaces that elevate the way families spend time together. We're known for craftsmanship, professionalism, and excellence in service.

We're looking for a Lead Carpenter who’s ready to run a crew in the field and set the standard for quality on every job. This is a hands-on role. You won’t just direct—you’ll be on the tools every day, leading the build from layout and framing through the finish details. Whether it’s reading plans, training the crew around you, or making sure a job passes inspection and looks right when we hand it over, you’ll be the one keeping the work moving and the quality high.

This role is perfect for someone who is detail-oriented, confident working with both people and tools, and ready to lead a crew.

Who You Are

You’re a natural leader who:

  • Takes pride in high-quality craftsmanship
  • Sees the small things others overlook
  • Communicates clearly and confidently
  • Enjoys solving problems and supporting the team
  • Stays calm when plans shift and pressure rises
  • Doesn’t mind getting dirty and loves seeing progress happen on-site
  • Wants to grow personally and professionally as a leader in the field

You’re not just looking for a paycheck. You want a long-term opportunity to grow with a company that invests in you, challenges you, and appreciates your work ethic.

Our Core Values Matter

At Legacy Decks, we live by our core values—and we hire people who do the same:

  • Always Achieve Results – You do what you say you’re going to do.
  • Lifelong Learners – You’re coachable, curious, and constantly improving.
  • Legacy Focused – You care about long-term impact, not just today’s tasks.
  • Impact and Develop People – You lift others up and leave things better than you found them.
  • Never Accept the Status Quo – You challenge the way it’s always been done.

If that sounds like how you operate, you’ll thrive here.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise deck construction projects, ensuring timely completion within budget and scope
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and construction plans accurately to guide project execution
  • Direct and train the crew and set the standard for quality
  • Work with our Project Managers on schedule, materials, and job progress
  • Oversee the use of hand tools and power tools for woodworking, framing, siding installation, trim carpentry, and other related tasks
  • Ensure all team members follow safety protocols including power tool safety practices and proper handling of heavy lifting equipment
  • Perform quality inspections throughout the project to maintain high standards of craftsmanship
  • Represent Legacy Decks well with homeowners on site
  • Make sure every job passes inspection and meets our finish standards

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of carpentry experience, with deck framing and composite decking strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of construction plans and interpreting technical drawings accurately
  • Experience leading a crew or running a job
  • Solid knowledge of residential building codes and inspections
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in finish work
  • Reliable, on time, and a clear communicator
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Proficiency with hand tools as well as power tools
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently in various weather conditions on active construction sites
  • Knowledge of construction site safety regulations including power tool safety practices

Pay: $26–$32/hr base, plus job-completion bonuses for finishing on schedule with quality work. Lead Carpenters can earn an all-in rate of $35–$38+/hr, with full-year earning potential of $75,000–$90,000.

Pay: $28.00 - $38.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 – 50.0 per week

Benefits:

  • Employee assistance program
  • On-the-job training
  • Paid time off
  • Parental leave
  • Professional development assistance
  • Tools provided
  • Tuition reimbursement
