What they need

“Drydocks World is expanding to Serbia!

We are establishing a new Engineering Project Support Centre in Belgrade , creating exciting opportunities for talented Serbian engineers to contribute to major global EPC, FPSO, Offshore Oil & Gas, and HVDC projects.

If you are interested in working on world-class projects while helping build a new engineering hub from the ground up, we would love to hear from you.”

Job Purpose

Responsible for leading, supervising, and coordinating material-handling design, 3D modeling, and drafting activities for major offshore EPC projects, including HVDC platforms, offshore wind facilities, FPSO/FSO facilities, and other offshore oil and gas projects. Ensure the development of accurate, safe, efficient, and constructible material-handling layouts, equipment arrangements, lifting access provisions, and associated design deliverables in accordance with approved engineering specifications, applicable international standards, and project requirements. Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure effective integration of material-handling systems within offshore facilities while meeting project quality, safety, and schedule requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate material-handling design, 3D modeling, and drafting activities for major offshore EPC projects, ensuring compliance with approved engineering specifications, project requirements, and applicable international standards.
  • Lead the development and review of 3D models and layouts for material-handling equipment, including cranes, hoists, monorails, davits, lifting beams, runway beams, padeyes, and other permanent handling arrangements.
  • Develop and review equipment-handling routes, lifting access arrangements, maintenance removal paths, laydown areas, and material movement layouts based on approved engineering requirements and equipment specifications.
  • Coordinate with Mechanical, Structural, Piping, Electrical, HVAC, and other engineering disciplines to ensure material-handling systems and equipment are properly integrated into overall facility layouts.
  • Review equipment general arrangement drawings, handling philosophies, equipment dimensions, weights, lifting requirements, and other technical inputs to ensure accurate incorporation into design drawings and 3D models.
  • Conduct and participate in multidisciplinary 3D model reviews, design reviews, and clash detection exercises to identify and resolve material-handling design conflicts and equipment accessibility constraints.
  • Ensure material-handling layouts adequately consider lifting clearances, equipment access, maintenance requirements, operational safety, structural interfaces, and installation constraints.
  • Coordinate with Material Handling and Structural Engineers to incorporate approved lifting capacities, lifting points, equipment support requirements, structural arrangements, and handling load considerations into design documentation.
  • Review and verify material-handling design deliverables, including general arrangement drawings, equipment-handling layouts, lifting access drawings, installation details, and material take-offs for accuracy and completeness.
  • Provide technical guidance to designers in resolving complex equipment-handling arrangements, congested offshore layouts, restricted lifting access, and equipment removal challenges.
  • Coordinate with fabrication, construction, and installation teams to ensure material-handling arrangements are practical, constructible, and compatible with modular fabrication and offshore installation requirements.
  • Support procurement and material management teams through the timely preparation and verification of material-handling equipment schedules, material take-offs, and relevant design documentation.

Education

  • Diploma or Higher Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant engineering discipline would be an advantage.
  • Professional training or certification in AVEVA E3D/PDMS, AutoCAD, Smart 3D, or equivalent engineering design and modeling software would be preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum 10+ years of relevant experience in mechanical or material-handling design and drafting, preferably within offshore oil and gas, HVDC platforms, offshore wind, or major EPC projects.
  • At least 3–5 years of experience leading or supervising designers, draftsmen, and 3D modeling teams.

Key Competencies

  • Extensive knowledge of material-handling equipment layouts, mechanical handling arrangements, lifting access provisions, and offshore design practices.
  • Advanced proficiency in 3D engineering design and modeling software such as AVEVA E3D/PDMS, AutoCAD, Navisworks, Smart 3D, or equivalent applications.
  • Strong understanding of material-handling philosophies, equipment-handling studies, lifting equipment arrangements, and maintenance removal requirements.
  • Knowledge of cranes, hoists, monorails, lifting beams, runway beams, davits, padeyes, and associated material-handling systems.
  • Ability to interpret equipment general arrangement drawings, lifting requirements, equipment weight data, handling equipment specifications, and related engineering documentation.
  • Understanding of lifting clearances, equipment movement routes, laydown areas, maintenance accessibility, and offshore space constraints.
  • Working knowledge of applicable ASME, API, ISO, DNV, EN, and client-specific requirements relating to material-handling equipment and lifting arrangements.
  • Understanding of structural interfaces, lifting point locations, support arrangements, and equipment installation requirements.
  • Ability to conduct 3D model reviews, clash detection, and multidisciplinary design coordination.
  • Knowledge of offshore fabrication, modular construction, lifting equipment installation, and commissioning requirements.
