The Client

Datacenter People is partnering with a French architectural and engineering design consultancy, specialists in designing, building and operating for the built environment, including data centers.

What The Job Involves

• Define and maintain technical requirements for:
• High Voltage (HV) systems.
• Medium Voltage (MV) networks.
• Low Voltage (LV) distribution systems.
• Substations and switchgear.
• Emergency and backup power systems.
• Power distribution architecture.
• Translate project technical requirements into operational and performance-driven solutions.
• Ensure alignment with resilience, redundancy, availability, and operational objectives.
• Lead technical evaluations and resolve design conflicts requiring arbitration.
• Support development of owner requirements, design standards, and technical governance frameworks.
• Participate in multidisciplinary design reviews throughout all project phases.
• Challenge and validate engineering consultant deliverables.
• Ensure electrical designs achieve the required maturity at each project milestone.
• Identify technical gaps, inconsistencies, risks, and unresolved issues.
• Support closure of technical review comments and corrective actions.
• Lead electrical coordination with:
• Mechanical and cooling systems.
• Building architecture and structural engineering.
• Controls and automation systems.
• Utility and grid connection providers.
• Construction and commissioning teams.
• Ensure consistency of technical inputs supporting:
• Permitting and approvals.
• Procurement activities.
• Construction execution.
• Commissioning and operational readiness.
• Integrate the electrical scope within the overall project systems strategy.
• Ensure robustness and resilience of power distribution architectures.
• Validate compliance with uptime, redundancy, and service continuity objectives.
• Verify compatibility of technical solutions with utility constraints, operational requirements, and future scalability.
• Anticipate and mitigate risks related to:
• Grid capacity and utility interfaces.
• Equipment lead times.
• System selectivity and protection coordination.
• Redundancy strategies.
• Project schedule impacts.
• Support technical decision-making and project-level risk mitigation activities.

We Are Looking For Someone With

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Significant experience delivering mission-critical, energy, industrial, infrastructure, or hyperscale data center projects.
• Deep expertise in:
• HV/MV/LV electrical systems.
• Utility and grid connections.
• Electrical substations.
• Power distribution networks.
• Backup power systems (UPS, generators, resilient architectures).
• Protection and selectivity studies.
• Experience working within complex, multi-package EPCM delivery environments.
• Strong understanding of Tier III / Tier IV and hyperscale data center electrical design principles.
• Experience collaborating with engineering consultants, EPCM organizations, OEMs, utilities, contractors, and operations teams.
• Strong analytical, coordination, and technical leadership skills.
• Proven ability to assess and mitigate design-related technical risks.
• Experience influencing technical decision-making across multidisciplinary teams.
• Professional proficiency in English required; French language skills are highly desirable.
