Lead Engineer

We are supporting an established UK energy and infrastructure business looking to appoint a senior engineering leader into its multi-utility team.

The position will take technical ownership of utility strategy across electricity, gas, water and telecoms , supporting projects from early feasibility and design strategy through procurement, construction and close-out.

It is a particularly good opportunity for an experienced multi-utility engineer who wants to remain technically involved while taking greater responsibility for standards, engineering governance and developing other engineers.

The role

You will:

• lead multi-utility technical strategy across electricity, gas, water and telecoms
• oversee feasibility studies covering routes, capacity, cost, risk and programme
• establish and maintain engineering standards and design governance
• act as the senior technical escalation point for complex developments
• provide technical input into procurement, scopes and quotation reviews
• support selected projects through construction and technical resolution
• lead and mentor approximately 5 to 10 Project Engineers
• support engineers progressing towards IEng and CEng professional registration

We're looking for

You are likely to have:

• extensive multi-utility engineering or design experience
• strong understanding of utility feasibility and network design
• experience operating at senior/lead/manager level
• exposure to electricity alongside gas, water and ideally telecoms
• experience reviewing and governing engineering work
• a track record of mentoring and developing engineers
• commercial awareness and confidence engaging with clients and delivery partners
• HNC Level 5 or equivalent within an engineering, construction or utilities discipline
