Lead Engineer

We're recruiting for an experienced lead software engineer to join a high-growth SaaS business that has already achieved strong market traction and is entering its next phase of growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the technical direction and engineering strategy
• Remain hands-on with software development and architecture decisions
• Establish scalable engineering processes, standards and best practices
• Drive platform modernisation, stability and performance improvements
• Introduce and embed AI-enabled engineering processes and efficiencies
• Mentor, coach and develop engineers
• Assess the current team structure and implement improvements where required
• Build a high-performing engineering culture focused on quality and delivery
• Collaborate with stakeholders to align technology initiatives with business objectives
• Ensure solutions are scalable and secure

You'll likely bring:

• Experience leading engineering teams within a startup, scale-up or high-growth SaaS environment
• Technical experience in the following (or similar): React, Flutter, Node.js, AWS and Firebase
• Strong full-stack development capability and a willingness to stay hands-on
• Experience scaling systems, teams and engineering functions
• A track record of implementing effective development processes and technical standards
• Experience improving engineering quality, delivery velocity and operational maturity
• Confidence challenging existing approaches and driving meaningful change
• Strong commercial awareness and product-minded thinking

Highly Regarded

• AI engineering or AI implementation experience
• UX/UI awareness and customer-centric thinking
• Experience leading distributed or offshore teams
