What they need
Ko wai mātou - About us
As New Zealand's largest telecommunications and digital services company, Spark’s purpose is to help all of New Zealand win big in a digital world. We provide mobile, broadband, and digital services to millions of New Zealanders and thousands of New Zealand businesses.
We operate in an exciting and constantly evolving industry, where the pace of change brings new and unique challenges every day, so we operate using Agile ways of working to allow us to meet the fast-changing needs of our customers.
Mō tēnei tūranga mahi - About the Role:
You’ll own the Salesforce engineering craft across our Salesforce operations support, spanning multiple orgs, and our B2B Migration Programme. That covers sprint delivery, code quality, release readiness, and the engineering standard that both internal and partner engineers are held to.
This is a hands-on leadership role with people, delivery and partner accountability. Your team of permanent Salesforce developers, functional consultants and partner engineers delivers key business outcomes across Communications Cloud, Sales Cloud, Service Cloud and Experience Cloud.
Ngā mahi o ia rā – Daily tasks:
Lead and grow the team
Line manage the permanent Salesforce developers and functional consultants, set ways of working, and make sure the squad delivers effectively.
Grow internal capability through skills plans, Salesforce certification, and a planned shift of critical-path work from partner to internal.
Use AI-assisted engineering in your own work, such as Agentforce for Developers and coding agents, and lead permanent and partner engineers to work the same way.
Set the engineering standard
Own development patterns, code review, test automation and deployment practice, applied equally to internal and partner work.
Run a source-driven CI/CD release process using Salesforce DX and tooling such as Copado or Gearset, with a clear sandbox and environment strategy across orgs.
Own release readiness, with quality gates met before go-live.
Track delivery health with industry-standard DORA metrics: deployment frequency, lead time for changes, change failure rate and time to restore service.
Actively manage technical debt, platform limits, and the balance between declarative (Flow, OmniStudio) and programmatic (Apex, LWC) solutions.
Deliver through partners
Hold partner engineering to the same standard, tracking defects, rework and cycle time.
Keep migration delivery on track, including data migration quality and cutover readiness for the B2B Migration Programme.
Partner with the architecture team so design decisions land in the build without rework.
Keep the platform secure
- Build security and data-handling practice into every release, including access model, sharing rules and secure code review.
