Lead Engineer – Systems Automation & Backend Development

About the Opportunity

We’re looking for a Lead Engineer with strong experience in systems automation, backend development, and infrastructure tooling. In this role, you’ll build and maintain automation solutions that support virtual machine migration workflows, helping ensure processes are reliable, traceable, and resilient.

This is a hands-on engineering opportunity for someone comfortable working across Python, Go, Linux virtualization, APIs, and database-driven systems.

What You’ll Do

• Build and maintain backend services and command-line tools to automate customer-driven warm and cold virtual machine migrations.
• Develop state tracking, validation checks, and rollback mechanisms to support reliable migration workflows.
• Integrate migration automation with centralized database state stores and orchestration APIs.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts and backend tooling to streamline infrastructure operations.
• Troubleshoot migration failures, investigate root causes, and address performance bottlenecks during operational testing.
• Improve the reliability, observability, and maintainability of automated migration processes.

What We’re Looking For

• A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer or Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline.
• 8+ years of relevant experience in systems automation and backend tool development.
• Strong programming skills in Python and Go, along with practical Bash scripting experience.
• A solid understanding of Linux virtualization and hypervisors, VM storage snapshots, and state transfer mechanisms.
• Experience developing CLI tools, REST APIs, and database-backed workflow engines.
• Familiarity with orchestration APIs, workflow state management, validation logic, and recovery mechanisms.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills, particularly in complex infrastructure environments.
