Lead Estimator

About the Role

BND Construction is looking for a Lead Estimator to take ownership of our estimating process from the ground up. You'll manage our existing estimator while also rolling up your sleeves and estimating alongside them — running takeoffs, building bids, and keeping subcontractors accountable to deadlines. This role is equal parts hands-on estimator and team lead, so we're looking for someone who can do the work and guide someone else through it at the same time.

What You'll Do

• Manage and mentor our existing estimator, overseeing workload, quality, and deadlines
• Perform takeoffs and prepare detailed cost estimates using Bluebeam
• Read and interpret full plan sets, with particular strength in MEP and civil drawings
• Proactively reach out to subcontractors and suppliers to solicit bids
• Track outstanding bid requests and push subcontractors to submit before the due date
• Perform bid leveling and comparisons to identify the most competitive and complete scopes
• Assemble complete, accurate bid packages for submission to clients and GCs
• Coordinate with project managers and leadership on scope clarifications, budgets, and pricing strategy
• Maintain organized records of estimates, bids, and subcontractor pricing history
• Identify and flag scope gaps, exclusions, or risks in subcontractor bids
• Support pre-construction efforts including budgeting and value engineering as needed

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience as an estimator in commercial construction, with leadership or mentoring experience preferred
• Strong proficiency with Bluebeam Revu for takeoffs and markups
• Ability to read and understand full construction plan sets, especially MEP and civil drawings
• Comfortable and persistent following up with subcontractors to keep bids on schedule
• Sharp eye for detail when comparing and leveling bids
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Self-starter who can manage competing deadlines across multiple active bids

Compensation & Benefits

• Compensation commensurate with experience
• Unlimited PTO (pending approval)

Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
