Lead Estimator

Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Lead Estimator to join our team. Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation of detailed construction estimates for commercial projects, including reviewing blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
• Utilize estimating software such as Stone Profit Systems to develop accurate cost models and bid proposals.
• Manage material cost estimating by interpreting blueprints and construction drawings to determine quantities and requirements.
• Negotiate with suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors to secure competitive pricing and favorable contract terms.
• Oversee the review of construction management software and spreadsheets to track project budgets, costs, and changes throughout the bidding process.
• Collaborate with project teams to develop comprehensive project budgets, including labor, materials, equipment, and overhead costs.
• Ensure proper cost control measures are implemented during project execution, maintaining profitability and client satisfaction.
• Communicate effectively with clients regarding project scope, pricing strategies, and bid submissions while managing expectations professionally.
• Interpret technical drawings accurately to assess scope of work and estimate material requirements from blueprints.
• Review construction drawings for accuracy and completeness to support precise estimation efforts.
• Maintain detailed records of all estimates, negotiations, and contractual documents in accordance with company policies.

Requirements

• Proven experience managing projects as a stone estimator within the commercial and residential construction industry.
• Strong proficiency in estimating software such as Stone Profit Systems and other construction management tools.
• Extensive knowledge of construction industry standards including blueprint reading, construction drawing review, and interpreting technical specifications.
• Demonstrated ability in cost management, material cost estimating, and estimating construction project budgets effectively.
• Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to secure competitive pricing while maintaining quality standards.
• Solid understanding of contracts, legal considerations in construction projects, and cost control practices.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel spreadsheets), construction estimating techniques, and managing multiple bids simultaneously.
• Construction site experience combined with a strong background in construction management enhances estimation accuracy.
• Exceptional client communication skills to clearly present estimates and negotiate terms confidently.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings accurately for estimating purposes while managing project scope changes efficiently.
