This role is ideal for an experienced facilities professional who enjoys working alongside the team, coordinating priorities, mentoring others, and ensuring that maintenance, groundskeeping, seasonal work, and facility support tasks are completed safely, thoroughly, and on time. The Lead Facilities Technician will serve as the first point of coordination for assigned work, help balance changing priorities, and model a positive, service-focused approach across the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead, coordinate, and provide day-to-day direction to Facilities Technicians, including assigning tasks, setting priorities, and monitoring progress.
  • Perform general facility maintenance, repairs, groundskeeping, light carpentry, snow removal, lot sanding, and other hands-on work as needed.
  • Review facility needs each day with the Facilities Supervisor, organize work effectively, and adjust priorities when urgent or weather-related needs arise.
  • Train, coach, and mentor Facilities Technicians on safe work practices, proper use of tools and equipment, and expected quality standards.
  • Inspect completed work to ensure tasks are finished safely, thoroughly, and in line with facility expectations.
  • Communicate work status, supply needs, safety concerns, and facility issues to Facilities Supervisor and Manager in a timely and professional manner.
  • Support errands and operational needs, including picking up local orders, supplies, or other items as needed.
  • Help maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas, storage spaces, tools, and equipment.
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, flexibility, and a service-minded approach within the Facilities team.

Education and Experience

  • Prior experience in facilities, maintenance, groundskeeping, carpentry, or a related hands-on role required.
  • Previous experience leading, training, mentoring, or coordinating the work of others preferred.
  • Ability to safely operate, maintain, and guide others in the use of basic tools and equipment related to facility maintenance and groundskeeping.
  • Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, including winter weather response.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, shift priorities, and follow through on assignments.
  • Valid driver’s license preferred, as occasional errands or pickups may be required.
  • Ability to perform physical work, including standing, walking, bending, lifting, carrying, and using equipment as needed.
  • Leads by example and is willing to work alongside the team to get the job done.
  • Dependable, flexible, and able to remain calm when priorities change quickly.
  • Strong communicator who gives clear direction, listens well, and follows up appropriately.
  • Patient and supportive when training or mentoring team members.
  • Accountable for quality, safety, cleanliness, and timely completion of assigned work.
  • Collaborative, respectful, and service-focused when working with employees, vendors, and other departments.
  • Proactive about identifying facility needs, solving problems, and keeping work areas organized.
