About the Opportunity

Our client is developing a modern digital platform within the financial services and insurance space, designed to simplify how customers research, compare and purchase products online.

They are seeking a hands-on Lead Full-Stack Developer to take ownership of a key digital platform initiative, helping transform business requirements into a scalable, secure and high-performing product.

This role offers the opportunity to work closely with senior stakeholders and play a pivotal role in shaping the platform's architecture, technology stack and long-term development roadmap.

The Role

This is a senior, hands-on position combining software engineering, solution architecture and technical leadership.

The successful candidate will be responsible for driving the technical delivery of the platform from concept through to deployment, working independently to recommend solutions, lead development activities and ensure successful project execution.

This position would suit someone who enjoys taking ownership, making key technical decisions and delivering commercially focused digital products in a fast-moving environment.

We're looking for an individual who can take a project from business requirements and design through to a fully tested, production-ready solution with minimal day-to-day technical supervision.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Architecture & Solution Design

• Define and recommend an appropriate technology stack and scalable application architecture.
• Translate business requirements into practical technical specifications and development plans.
• Identify technical dependencies, risks, third-party integration requirements and delivery priorities.
• Provide technical guidance and recommendations to stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.

Full-Stack Development

• Design and develop modern, responsive web applications with a strong emphasis on user experience, performance and accessibility.
• Build and maintain backend services, APIs, databases and supporting infrastructure.
• Develop secure, maintainable and well-documented code following industry best practices.
• Participate in code reviews, testing and continuous improvement initiatives.

Platform Development & Integrations

• Develop functionality that supports digital customer journeys, product comparison and online service delivery.
• Build integration capabilities with third-party platforms, external data providers, CRM systems and other business applications.
• Support the implementation of business rules, recommendation engines and workflow automation where required.
• Ensure platform scalability to accommodate future enhancements and product expansion.

Future Scalability & Innovation

• Design solutions that support partner distribution channels and integration opportunities.
• Structure platform data and content to support future automation, analytics and AI-driven capabilities.
• Recommend practical approaches to improve scalability, flexibility and long-term maintainability.
• Contribute to technology roadmaps and future platform enhancements.

Testing, Deployment & Documentation

• Establish appropriate testing, quality assurance, security and deployment processes.
• Manage development, staging and production environments.
• Support platform releases and post-deployment activities.
• Produce clear technical documentation covering application architecture, integrations and operational processes.
• Ensure knowledge transfer and maintainability for internal teams and future developers.

Required Experience & Skills

• Proven experience delivering commercial full-stack web applications.
• Strong front-end and back-end development expertise across modern frameworks and technologies.
• Experience designing software architecture and making independent technical decisions.
• Strong knowledge of API development, database design and cloud-based infrastructure.
• Experience deploying, monitoring and supporting production applications.
• Solid understanding of web security, application performance, testing methodologies and software engineering best practices.
• Experience integrating third-party platforms, services and external APIs.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver against agreed milestones.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Proactive, solutions-focused mindset with strong problem-solving abilities.

Desirable Experience

Experience in one or more of the following areas would be advantageous:

• Insurance technology, financial services or other regulated industries.
• Product comparison platforms, recommendation engines or customer-facing digital marketplaces.
• API-first platforms and complex systems integration projects.
