What they need

About the businessOur client is an established Christchurch-based boutique financial advice business that helps individuals, families, and business owners protect what matters most through tailored insurance and financial advice.

With more than 20 years of industry experience, the business has built its approach around personal relationships, practical advice, and long-term client care.

The business is now entering a deliberate growth phase and is looking to build a stronger, more consistent pipeline of new client opportunities.

About the roleThis is a hands-on lead generation role for someone who genuinely enjoys creating opportunities rather than waiting for them to arrive.

Working approximately 25 hours per week, you'll find and engage prospective clients across Christchurch through a combination of residential door knocking, business-to-business prospecting, and outbound calling.

You'll take the initial conversation through to a qualified, confirmed appointment for one of the financial advisers. That means building rapport, understanding whether there is genuine interest, following people up and making sure good opportunities don't disappear after the first conversation.

You'll have plenty of autonomy to plan your activity, identify areas and businesses to approach and work out what is generating the best results.

This is not a financial advice or closing role – your focus is on opening doors and creating quality opportunities for the advisers.

Key responsibilities

  • Generate new opportunities through residential door knocking and field prospecting.
  • Identify and approach suitable Christchurch businesses and business owners.
  • Research and build your own prospect lists and areas to target.
  • Follow up prospective clients by phone and qualify genuine interest.
  • Book and confirm appointments for the financial advisers.
  • Maintain accurate CRM notes, call-backs and future follow-ups.
  • Plan your own weekly activity and adjust your approach based on what is converting.
  • Keep the advisers informed about pipeline activity and quality.

About youYou'll be someone who is genuinely comfortable starting conversations with people who haven't asked to hear from you.

You don't need to come from financial services, but you do need to understand the reality of cold prospecting. You'll be able to hear "no", move on to the next conversation and maintain your activity without needing someone constantly keeping you on track.

Just as importantly, this isn't about generating as many names as possible. You'll need the judgement to recognise a genuine opportunity, build enough trust to get someone to the next step and follow through on what you've promised.

Saturday is a core working day, with an indicative prospecting window of approximately 11.00am–6.00pm. Weekday field activity will generally be planned around the times prospective clients are most likely to be available.

You will likely have:

  • Experience in proactive outbound sales, direct sales, field sales, lead generation, appointment setting or a similar prospecting environment.
  • Confidence approaching cold prospects face-to-face and over the phone.
  • Experience creating opportunities rather than relying solely on inbound or warm leads.
  • A track record of working towards measurable activity, appointment or sales targets.
  • Strong self-management and the initiative to plan and create your own activity.
  • Natural communication skills and the ability to build rapport without being pushy or overly scripted.
  • Good organisation and the discipline to keep on top of CRM activity and follow-up.
  • A full New Zealand Driver Licence and reliable access to your own transport.

Financial services or insurance experience would be useful, but isn't essential. No financial services qualification is required for the role.

What's on offer

  • Permanent part-time position of approximately 25 hours per week.
  • Significant autonomy to plan and manage your own prospecting activity.
  • Variety across residential prospecting, B2B lead generation and telephone follow-up.
  • Opportunity to take ownership of lead generation within an established Christchurch business entering a growth phase.
  • Company laptop, mobile phone and tablet provided.
  • Base remuneration plus an incentive component.
