Job Purpose

Responsible for organization and overall operations of HVAC section in the Mechanical Engineering department of EPC Engineering division within Safety, Quality, on Schedule and budgetary target set to support achieving overall department goals. Deliver operational requirement for all department activities as a minimum tendering, project and other as required.

Key Responsibilities

• Assume sole responsibility for assigned HVAC engineering work scopes.
• Carry out HVAC discipline work within a project team, supporting the project team for field development of oil and gas production facilities and renewable energies projects.
• Plan, budget, organize and control a segment of the HVAC engineering deliverables for the project.
• Prepare HVAC deliverables for all project phases of oil and gas and renewable industries.
• Perform Heat load calculation for Air Conditioning system for Oil Rigs, Jack up vessels, offshore Platforms, Barges, Ships, Exploration & Survey vessels etc
• Involves selection of equipment (Split AC, Package A/C, Chiller, AHU, FCU, Ventilation fan, Pumps, etc.), design of ducting, design of chilled water piping, selection of pumps, valves, etc.
• Carry out design in-consideration with various heat generating / transmitting / equipment /material with the aid of cooling Load Estimation software (Carrier HAP latest version).
• Design of Air-conditioning ie; DX system and chilled water system. Pipe design and pipe sizing, static pressure calculations & selection of grilles & diffusers.
• Duct design & duct sizing in accordance with ISO standards, EU regulations, SMACNA guide and DW144 for ductwork specification & fabrication procedures.
• Preparation of HVAC Design philosophy, HVAC Control Philosophy, Pre- Commissioning & Commissioning procedure, Interface Schedule for F&G and Platform Control System, HVAC Consolidated MTO, I/O Point Schedule and Cause & Effect for HVAC Controls.
• Ensure that all work is completed without compromise to quality and is delivered according to the project schedule.
• Provide direction and guidance on all HVAC engineering technical queries raised by either internal or external parties.
• Liaise with the Client’s Engineering, Operations and Maintenance staff as required to ensure a consistent approach to project completion.
• Provide sound technical advice and solutions to a diversity of technical problems within the discipline
• Co-ordinate with other disciplines during all stages of design development, construction, pre-commissioning, and start-up
• Assist in the coordination of all activities related to HVAC engineering design.
• Identify any areas of concern with respect to progress and/or quality and recommend corrective actions as required
• Plan and maintain manpower and other resources required for smooth operation of the HVAC section for project and tender execution.
• Estimate man-hours and materials for delegated aspects of work.
• Prepare and reviewing engineering studies, design drawings and documents.
• Plan, organize and supervise the activities assigned to HVAC discipline subordinates to ensure that all work within a specific area / project / tender of HVAC engineering activity is carried out in accordance with department and project work instructions, procedures, process manual and project specific requirements, an efficient and procedurally compliant manner.

Education

• Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

Experience

• Minimum of 15 years relevant experience in in design office or EPC for / FPSO/ FSO/FPU/MOPU.
• Experience with performing FEED design, FEED Verification & Detail Engineering for HVAC section.
• Delivered at least one mega project as Lead HVAC Engineer in design stage.
• Experience in Offshore HVDC projects.

Key Competencies

• Broad technical knowledge of sizing HVAC equipment, designing Integrated Automation Systems in basic, detail and production stages for FPSO, marine / offshore platforms etc.
• Broad technical knowledge of installation and commissioning of HVAC equipment and its auxiliary systems.
• Familiar with International Codes and standards such as ASHRE etc. as applicable to HVAC equipment engineering.
• Strong background with resolution of technical issues during projects planning and EPC execution phases.
• Strong know how in 2GW projects in European Offshore Substation projects.
