What they need

Lead Industrial Systems Operations Engineer

D-Riven Engineered Solutions is seeking a seasoned leader to anchor complex, multi-discipline field projects within our Industrial Engineering division. You’ll be the technical point of the spear—partnering with customers, guiding internal and vendor teams, and ensuring that every installation meets our rigorous safety, quality, and performance standards.

Starting Pay Range: $101k–$110k annually

A day in the life

Picture a typical on-site day while traveling with our project teams:

  • Kick off with safety—reinforce D-Riven’s HSE expectations and confirm compliance with site-specific rules and regulations.
  • Align with internal leaders and customer management on scope, costing, quoting, and planning updates.
  • Partner with Project Engineers and Program Managers to refine schedules, milestones, and resource plans.
  • Lead technical reviews of design packages, schematics, and utility/foundation requirements; host design reviews with customers and vendors.
  • Coordinate with municipalities and inspectors on permitted projects to keep approvals moving.
  • Drive vendor engagement for quotes, material sourcing, and execution strategy.
  • Author workflow plans for the most complex workstreams; assign responsibilities across internal crews and vendor partners.
  • Direct mechanical installation efforts with pipefitters and plumbers; steer electrical and controls work with electricians and controls technicians.
  • Validate work quality against codes, specifications, and QA/QC policies; address gaps proactively.
  • Review technical reports from Project Engineers before they reach leadership and customer teams.
  • Mentor Project Engineers and Team Leads, offering experience-based coaching and conducting both formal and informal performance evaluations.
  • Engage clients daily—communicate progress, resolve questions, and adapt to evolving needs.

Travel and working rhythm

  • Approximately 75% travel; typical rotations are 3–4 weeks at a time on site in other states, occasionally extending to a couple of months.

  • Drive your own vehicle to the work site from home? Expense mileage at $0.725/mile (not applicable for hotel-to-jobsite daily travel).
  • $70.00/day per diem.
  • Accrue 120 hours of PTO (vacation, sick, personal)—usable with Manager approval.
  • Health benefits start on the first day of the month following your start date.
  • There may be breaks around holidays, but as part of the travel team you’ll largely be on the road continuously.

What you’ll bring

  • 3+ years in an industrial environment as an Operations Engineer, Technical Manager, Maintenance Manager, Project Engineer, or equivalent.
  • Flexibility to travel extensively (70%–80%) and remain on site for 2–4 weeks stretches as needed.
  • Lead-from-the-front mindset and demonstrated supervisory capability.
  • Reliable, road-worthy personal vehicle suited for interstate travel.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks.
  • Expert interpretation of engineering drawings, schematics, and standards.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project.
  • Fluency with industrial rules, regulations, and best practices.
  • Ability to collaborate across disciplines: Electrical, Mechanical, HVAC, Concrete/Masonry, Rigging.
  • Top-tier critical thinking, decision-making, time management, and organization.
  • Commitment to enforcing internal and external health and safety standards.
  • Comfort working in unclean or uncomfortable environments when necessary.
