We are looking for an experienced **Lead Java Developer** to join a technology team supporting **Debt Capital Markets (DCM) Bookbuilding** within investment banking.

The platform supports the bookbuilding process, where investment banks collect and manage investor orders for new debt issuances such as bonds. It enables underwriters to assess investor demand, refine pricing and issuance terms and facilitate the final allocation of bonds to investors.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development and delivery of scalable backend applications using Java and Spring Boot.

• Design and develop microservices and RESTful APIs to support critical bookbuilding workflows.

• Translate complex business requirements into robust, maintainable technical solutions.

• Drive technical design decisions, code reviews, coding standards and engineering best practices.

• Collaborate with business analysts, product owners, architects, QA engineers and other technology teams.

• Troubleshoot complex production issues and ensure application stability, performance and reliability.

• Mentor developers, provide technical guidance and take ownership of end-to-end delivery.

• Contribute to automated testing, CI/CD pipelines and continuous improvement of the development process.

Essential Skills

• Strong hands-on experience in **Core Java and Spring Boot**.

• Proven experience designing and developing enterprise-grade backend applications and microservices.

• Strong knowledge of REST APIs, object-oriented design, design patterns and distributed systems.

• Experience with SQL databases, data modelling and query optimisation.

• Understanding of multithreading, concurrency, performance tuning and application troubleshooting.

• Experience with unit testing, integration testing, Git and CI/CD practices.

• Proven ability to lead technical delivery, mentor developers and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Desirable Experience

• Exposure to investment banking, particularly Debt Capital Markets (DCM) or Fixed Income.

• Understanding of bond issuance, investor order management, bookbuilding, pricing and allocation workflows.

• Experience working on business-critical financial applications with high standards of reliability and auditability.

• Familiarity with messaging platforms such as Kafka, cloud technologies and containerisation.
