What they need

ABOUT INW
INW Solutions is a network and physical security integrator in Chesapeake. Our engineers design and support Cisco, Palo Alto, Extreme, Fortinet, Meraki, and Verkada environments for commercial, education, and public-sector clients across Virginia. We are bringing installation work in-house that we have subcontracted until now, and we are hiring the first person to run it.

THE ROLE
You will be the first member of INW’s Installation Services team, and you will run it. You will lead installs, set the quality standard, build the processes, and work directly with the owner on how this team grows. As we add crews, this role grows into leading the installation team.

This is not a job where someone hands you a print and walks away. You will build it.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Lead structured cabling installs: Cat6/6A horizontal runs, terminations, patch panels, cable management, and pathway.
  • Install and terminate access control: readers, controllers, REX devices, door position switches, electrified hardware, and power supplies. Verkada Access is our primary platform.
  • Mount and terminate wireless access points and cameras.
  • Rack, stack, and dress network equipment so our engineers can configure it remotely.
  • Test every drop and deliver certification reports, labeling per TIA-606, and as-built documentation with each closeout.
  • Walk sites and estimate jobs that fall outside our standard per-drop and per-door pricing.
  • Direct a helper on each job. Early on, this may be a temporary helper or one of our network engineers.
  • Keep the company truck stocked against a defined stock list, and buy materials job-by-job through our distributor.
  • Record actual hours and materials on every job so we know what each one costs.
  • Sign off on quality before any job closes.
  • Represent INW on customer sites, including schools and government facilities, where conduct and tool security are non-negotiable.

WHAT YOU NEED

  • 4+ years of commercial low-voltage installation, including at least 1 year leading a crew or running jobs.
  • Hands-on access control experience: panels, readers, door hardware, REX, door position switches, and power. You know the difference between a fail-safe and a fail-secure lock and when each applies.
  • Experience with certification testers (Fluke DSX or equivalent) and producing test reports.
  • Ability to read floor plans and pathway drawings, and to estimate labor and materials for a job.
  • Working knowledge of TIA-568, TIA-569, and TIA-606.
  • Your own basic hand tools for cabling and low-voltage work.
  • OSHA 10, or willingness to complete it within 60 days.
  • Virginia DCJS electronic security technician registration, or the ability to obtain it. A background check is required.
  • Valid Virginia driver’s license and a clean driving record.
  • Comfortable on ladders and lifts, in ceilings, and lifting 50 lbs.
  • You show up on time, look professional, and leave a site cleaner than you found it.

PREFERRED

  • BICSI Installer 2 or Technician.
  • Manufacturer installer certification (Panduit, CommScope, Leviton, or similar).
  • Verkada/Axis and other Video Surveillance solutions
  • Verkada Access and other Access Control experience.
  • Fiber termination and testing.
  • Experience in K-12 or occupied healthcare or government buildings.

WHAT YOU GET

  • $60,000–$75,000 annual salary depending on experience.
  • Overtime: your salary covers a 40-hour workweek. Hours over 40 are paid at time-and-a-half. All overtime is pre-approved.
  • 100% employer-paid health insurance for the employee.
  • 401(k) participation.
  • Paid vacation and paid holidays.
  • Company truck for job travel, plus the certification tester and specialty tools.
  • Paid training and certifications, including manufacturer, BICSI, and Verkada.
  • A path to leading the installation team as we add crews.
  • A team of network engineers who will teach you staging and switch deployment if you want to grow in that direction.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE IN YOUR FIRST 90 DAYS

  • Truck stock list written and maintained.
  • Every completed job closed out with test reports, labeling, and as-builts.
  • Actual hours tracked against estimates on every job.
  • At least one manufacturer or Verkada certification completed.
  • Zero callbacks for workmanship.

TO APPLY
Apply through Indeed with your resume.

Optional but encouraged: send photos of two installs you are proud of (a closet, rack, or door) to [email protected] Strong photos move you to the front of the line.
