Lead Mechanical Design Engineer (Data Center)

Work location: Petaling Jaya (Office) or Cyberjaya (Site)

Job summary:

• Overseeing the mechanical system design aspects of data centre construction projects.
• Involved developing high-quality designs, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver efficient and innovative mechanical solutions.

Key responsibilities:

• Manage mechanical design activities from concept development through detailed design, ensuring reliable and energy-efficient mechanical systems.
• Develop detailed designs for mechanical systems in accordance with project and client requirements.
• Review mechanical drawings, equipment selections, specifications, and technical submissions for compliance and accuracy.
• Ensure that all designed systems and services meet all technical standards and local authority regulations, safety and performance requirements.
• Conduct value engineering assessments to improve system performance and cost efficiency.
• Ensure mechanical systems are designed with consideration for maintainability, accessibility, and operational reliability.
• Promote energy efficiency and other sustainability matters. Stay updated with the latest advancements and best practices in MEP engineering to continuously improve system efficiency and sustainability.
• Perform system calculations and simulations to ensure system efficiency

Job requirements:

• Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical design in construction industry, preferably in data centre, MEP, industrial, or mission-critical projects.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, chilled water systems, CRAC units, and fire suppression systems.
• Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and CFD analysis tools.
• Strong understanding of engineering standards, design principles, and regulatory requirements.
• Excellent coordination, communication, problem solving and leadership skills to manage project teams and stakeholders.
• Willingness to work on-site when required.
