Group Lead / Lead Mechanical Engineer (m/f/d) - Data Centres

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are working with a leading international engineering, design and construction partner delivering highly technical, mission-critical facilities - including large-scale data centres, advanced technology facilities and cleanroom environments.

Their Engineering & Design division is growing and they are looking for a Group Lead - Mechanical Engineering to head up a team focused on Plant Utility and HVAC systems for data centre projects.

This is a leadership-track role for a building services / TGA (HLS) engineer who wants ownership: you will lead and develop a team of design engineers, hold technical responsibility for mechanical and HVAC design on new build and refurbishment projects, and stay involved through to commissioning.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead, mentor and develop a team of engineers within the Engineering & Design department
• Plan, design and implement building services systems (heating, ventilation / air conditioning, plumbing, sprinkler) for new build and renovation projects
• Ensure compliance with German standards and regulations in building services engineering (DIN, VDI, VDE)
• Coordinate and communicate with internal departments, clients, external partners, planners and service providers
• Prepare and review technical specifications, bills of quantities and design plans
• Support tender processes, proposal evaluation and supplier selection
• Ensure quality throughout project execution up to commissioning
• Assist with budget and resource planning and schedule tracking
• Attend site visits, planning meetings and coordination discussions

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

• Degree in building services engineering (Versorgungstechnik / TGA), HVAC engineering, mechanical engineering or comparable
• Solid experience planning and executing building services systems in an industrial or mission-critical project environment
• Strong knowledge of German standards, guidelines and legal requirements for building services on industrial projects
• Fluent German and English, spoken and written - essential
• Proficiency in CAD systems, planning tools and MS Office
• Willingness to travel to project sites
• Structured, solution-oriented approach and a high sense of responsibility

DESIRABLE

• Leadership / team lead experience is a plus but not mandatory - initiative and team spirit are key
• Data centre, semiconductor, pharmaceutical or cleanroom project experience
• Experience carrying designs through to commissioning on mission-critical sites
