The Client

Datacenter People is partnering with a French architectural and engineering design consultancy, specialists in designing, building and operating for the built environment, including data centers.

What The Job Involves

• Define and maintain technical requirements for:
• Cooling plants.
• Chilled water systems.
• Hydraulic distribution networks.
• Air treatment and ventilation systems.
• Thermal management infrastructure.
• Translate project technical programs into practical and operational requirements.
• Ensure alignment with performance, redundancy, resilience, and operational objectives.
• Lead technical evaluations and resolve design conflicts requiring arbitration.
• Support the development of owner requirements and design standards.
• Participate in multidisciplinary design reviews throughout all project phases.
• Challenge and validate engineering consultant deliverables.
• Ensure design maturity aligns with project milestones and package release requirements.
• Identify technical gaps, risks, inconsistencies, and unresolved issues.
• Support closure of technical review comments and design actions.
• Coordinate mechanical systems with:
• Electrical infrastructure.
• Building architecture.
• Structural systems.
• Controls and automation.
• Utility and network connections.
• Lead management of critical interfaces impacting cooling performance and project delivery.
• Ensure consistency of technical inputs supporting:
• Permitting.
• Procurement.
• Construction.
• Commissioning.
• Operational readiness.
• Verify alignment between thermal strategy, operational conditions, and contingency scenarios.
• Ensure cooling solutions support required availability and redundancy levels.
• Validate maintainability, energy efficiency, sustainability, and lifecycle performance objectives.
• Anticipate and mitigate risks related to:
• Thermal capacity
• Hydraulic performance
• Equipment redundancy
• System integration
• Project schedule impacts
• Support technical decision-making and project-level risk mitigation strategies.

We Are Looking For Someone With

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Engineering, Fluid Systems.
• Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Significant experience delivering mission-critical, industrial, energy, infrastructure, or hyperscale data center projects.
• Deep expertise in:
• Data center cooling systems.
• Chilled water production and distribution.
• HVAC and air treatment systems.
• Thermal management strategies.
• Hydraulic network design and operation.
• Experience working within complex, multi-package EPCM delivery environments.
• Strong understanding of Tier III / Tier IV and hyperscale data center design principles.
• Experience collaborating with engineering consultants, EPCM organizations, OEMs, contractors, and operations teams.
• Strong analytical, coordination, and technical leadership skills.
• Proven ability to assess and mitigate design-related technical risks.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and influencing technical decision-making.
• Fluent French and professional-level English, both written and spoken.
