Lead Mechanical Engineer

Tonbo Imaging seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer with end-to-end experience in Mechanical Design from concept, prototyping through transfer to production. The ideal person will have experience in

• Designing & realizing motion systems, robotic subsystems which involve mechatronic components mounted on shafts and bearings with complex geometries and degrees of freedom with tight tolerances.

• Designing & realizing alignment mechanisms and mounts for multiple imaging sensors and optronic elements

• Designing & realizing enclosures with hermetic sealing / high ingress protection ratings for extreme environmental conditions

• realizing designs using a spectrum of manufacturing processes and materials that include machining, casting, metal injection molding, sheet metal etc. in addition to familiarity with design for plastics.

Experience in close interactions with vendors for manufacturability discussions is necessary to perform effectively in this role.

The position involves a significant level of autonomy and responsibility in which a self-motivated applicant must work independently and closely with other subject matter specialists to develop holistic product design solutions

Education, Skills & Characteristics

• Applicant should possess a Bachelors or Masters in ME from a top ranked (Tier-1 & Tier-2) institute in India.

• Applicant must have at least 3+ years of proven experience in developing relevant mechanical designs and successfully realizing as well as validating them.

• Strong expertise in a CAD tools preferably SolidWorks

• Strong expertise in any analysis tools for design confirmation through simulation for structural strength and thermal performance.

• Experience in Mechatronic component selection and sizing to meet product function is greatly desired.

• Hands-on experience to physically assess realized design to identify source of issues arising from realized dimensional tolerances, static and dynamic balance in moving parts etc is also greatly desired.

• Good team player and should have strong analytical, communication, logical and inter-personal skills.

• Ability to work in a challenging environment where multi-tasking will be required.

Job Responsibilities include but not restricted to

• End-to-End Ownership from concept to realization of assemblies for prototypes and pilot builds

• Assess, isolate and fix source of issues arising from design deficiencies, manufacturing limitations

• Own the transfer to production, including creation of assembly jigs to aid repeatable and error free assembly during production.
