We are looking for a hands-on Lead Data Architect to design and build a modern enterprise data platform using Microsoft Fabric and Azure.

This role is ideal for an experienced data professional who has progressed from business intelligence and data warehousing into cloud data engineering and enterprise architecture. You will lead the modernization of legacy data environments, develop a governed lakehouse foundation, and turn complex ERP and operational data into trusted models for Power BI, self-service analytics, and future AI use cases.

This is not a strategy-only architecture position. You will define the technical direction while remaining closely involved in platform design, data pipelines, modeling, governance, and delivery.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the architecture and hands-on development of an enterprise lakehouse using Microsoft Fabric.
  • Design and implement bronze, silver, and gold medallion layers.
  • Modernize legacy data warehouses, BI platforms, and integration processes.
  • Build scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using Fabric and Azure technologies.
  • Develop ingestion and transformation workflows, including change-data-capture patterns.
  • Reverse-engineer complex ERP and legacy data structures.
  • Design dimensional models, semantic models, and reusable enterprise datasets.
  • Implement Direct Lake and Power BI solutions for financial and operational reporting.
  • Improve platform performance, reliability, maintainability, and cost efficiency.
  • Establish standards for data quality, governance, lineage, ownership, security, and documentation.
  • Create and maintain an enterprise data dictionary with consistent business definitions.
  • Partner with Finance, Procurement, Manufacturing, Operations, and technology stakeholders.
  • Communicate architectural decisions, risks, priorities, and progress clearly.
  • Mentor members of the existing IS/ERP team through hands-on collaboration and knowledge transfer.
  • Build a scalable foundation for advanced analytics and future AI initiatives.

What You Bring

  • Senior-level experience spanning data architecture, data engineering, and business intelligence.
  • Recent hands-on experience designing and delivering production solutions with Microsoft Fabric.
  • Experience building enterprise lakehouse and medallion architectures.
  • Strong experience with Azure data technologies and cloud-platform modernization.
  • Advanced SQL, ETL/ELT, data integration, and pipeline-automation skills.
  • Experience migrating legacy data or BI environments into Microsoft Fabric or Azure.
  • Strong dimensional modeling and enterprise semantic-modeling expertise.
  • Advanced Power BI experience, including data modeling and enterprise reporting.
  • Experience translating complex ERP or legacy data into analytics-ready business models.
  • Practical experience with data governance, quality, lineage, and documentation.
  • Strong technical leadership, stakeholder-management, and communication skills.
  • A track record of mentoring engineers, analysts, or other technical team members.

Additional Experience We Value

  • OneLake and Direct Lake.
  • Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, or Azure Synapse Analytics.
  • Azure Databricks, Delta Lake, or Apache Spark.
  • SSAS, SSIS, or other legacy Microsoft BI technologies.
  • Infor XA, IBM i, or DB2 for i.
  • Manufacturing or industrial data environments.
  • Python or R.
  • Azure DevOps, CI/CD, and automated data-platform deployment.
  • Azure AI or AI-enabled data architectures.

Why This Role

You will have the opportunity to shape an enterprise data platform from the architectural foundation through production delivery. Your work will replace fragmented and manual reporting processes with trusted, reusable data products that support business decisions across the organization.
