Lead Operator

Summary:

The Lead Operator is the bridge between the production assembly track and the supervisory track. It is the first leadership tier on the floor. The Lead Operator performs hands-on production work as the primary part of the role while also leading their line, setting the example for quality and pace, helping others, and keeping the line running. The Lead Operator works without a supervisor present as needed, executing the work order on hand and resolving minor issues on their own line. This is a working leadership role, not a desk role.

Key Responsibilities

• Production: Perform hands-on production, lead the assigned line, maintain quality, safety, and pace, cover absences, and complete equipment setups and changeovers. Work independently as needed to execute assigned work orders.
• Work Direction: Assign tasks and workstations for 5–12 employees, follow production schedules and priorities, and escalate needed changes to the supervisor.
• Problem Solving: Resolve routine production issues, coordinate material shortages, and escalate quality or safety stoppages immediately. Report employee conduct concerns to the supervisor.
• Training and Communication: Demonstrate proper techniques, support new-hire training, and provide shift handoffs to the next shift leadership
• Accountability: Own assigned line output and maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.

Physical requirements

• Able to stand for a full shift.
• Able to handle parts and use hand and power tools; some parts are heavy (about 25 pounds) and may be oily.

Pay: From $20.00 per hour
