Lead Operator - Power Plant

Due to continued expansion, we are currently recruiting a Lead Operator for a major project within the Dublin area. The ideal profile for this roles will have experience in operating dual fuel engines or similar reciprocating engine-based power generation systems and be able to work on a rotational shift schedule: 12-hour shifts, 4 days on / 4 days off (including nights, weekends, and holidays as required).

Key Responsibilities:

• Leading daily plant operations, ensuring dual fuel engines and BOP equipment are operated in line with OEM O&M manuals, site procedures, and safety policies.
• Supervising and coordinating a team of Operators during shift operations, providing guidance on troubleshooting, maintenance coordination and compliance.
• Performing and overseeing plant start-ups, shutdowns, and operational adjustments, ensuring all actions maintain performance, efficiency, and availability targets.
• Acting as primary point of contact on shift for operational matters involving internal teams, clients, and OEM technical representatives.
• Managing shift handovers, ensuring continuity, clear communication, and accurate documentation of all plant events and actions.
• Reviewing, validating, and signing off on operational logs, reports, and shift data for accuracy and completeness.
• Leading incident reporting, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation for operational deviations or equipment failures.
• Coordinating and supporting maintenance activities, including planned outages and unplanned breakdowns, ensuring minimal impact to plant performance.
• Ensuring strict adherence to HSE policies and procedures by all shift personnel and contractors during operational activities.
• Coaching and mentoring junior operators, supporting skills development, performance improvement, and cross-functional collaboration.
• Monitoring and reporting on plant KPIs, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and recommending operational efficiency improvements.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Diploma or Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Process Engineering, or a relevant technical field.
• Previous experience in operating dual fuel engines (Preferable)
• Demonstrated leadership capabilities in a plant operations environment, including shift management or team leadership responsibilities.
• Proven experience in plant troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and performance optimization.
• Strong working knowledge of plant safety protocols, technical documentation, and control systems.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills for working with cross-functional teams, OEMs, and clients.
• High level of attention to detail, organizational discipline, and commitment to performance and safety excellence.
