Lead Painter

The Role

As the Lead Painter, you will be the driving force behind our paint shop operations. You will be responsible for surface preparation, applying industrial coatings to tanks (interior and exterior) and skids, and ensuring that every piece of equipment leaving our facility meets strict quality control standards.We are looking for a professional who operates with a highly proactive Sense of Urgency. At PRM, we do not rely on hearsay or "the way it’s always been done." The successful candidate must be committed to reading, understanding, and executing coating manufacturer instructions to the letter.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the Paint Shop: Direct daily painting operations and ensure all work is completed efficiently and safely.
• Surface Preparation: Oversee and perform rigorous cleaning and surface prep regimens for tanks and skids, including the application of anti-rust compounds to carbon steel immediately following sandblasting.
• Precision Coating: Apply industrial coatings to interior/exterior tanks, structural steel skids, flanges, and fittings. Ensure meticulous coverage, including brushing or swabbing the inside of bolt holes and the backsides of flanges.
• Technical Compliance: Access our Employee Hub portal to review manufacturer manuals, Technical Data Sheets (TDS), and Safety Data Sheets (SDS). Prime and coat within the exact timeframes required by the product specifications.
• Quality Control Collaboration: Work closely with our QC Manager and Management Team. Stop at designated "hold points" for inspections and approvals before moving to the next phase.
• Safety First: Maintain a rigorous safety culture. Ensure you and your team are always adequately outfitted with the proper safety gear, especially when working inside confined spaces like tanks.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Proven experience as an industrial painter (experience with carbon steel, structural skids, and large tanks is highly preferred).
• Strong understanding of industrial surface preparation (sandblasting, solvent cleaning, etc.).
• Ability to read, interpret, and strictly adhere to technical coating instructions and manuals.
• A strong Sense of Urgency and the ability to efficiently manage time to meet production schedules (e.g., executing same-day prime and coat operations).
• Exceptional attention to detail.
• Must be a self-starter who does not rely on guesswork or hearsay to complete a job.
• Commitment to strict safety standards and confined-space protocols.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with QC, Engineering, and Purchasing departments.

Pay: $23.00 - $28.00 per hour
